DGIT # 2-Krafty Koreans

Wow, at this rate it'll be my turn in ten minutes.

alerum68-should you feel the need to go to war with America on your turn, make sure our defenses are ship shape before doing so. And please try to bankrupt the Americans before declaring war, if you go to war.

Hey guys, I hate to do this to you tonight, but I just got done with a 14 hour shift, so the options are waiting another day for me to play and post, or skip me. Sorry, but RL is just getting crazy for me the last 2 weeks.

down worry alerum, we can wait an extra day for you

Thanks for understand y'all. I just got home, and am going to spend the next hour or so playing my ten. Should be able to post tonight, hopefully. :)

Oh yeah, the website is looking good.)

IT: Change one of seoul's workers to scientist. It grows in 1 turn, and will riot. Tell the Summerian archer between Incho'on and Paegam to move off our land, or he'll feel our blades. He slinked away with his tail between his legs. Everything else looks good in the cities, (Great job MMing SpikeIt), so I decided to make some cash and sell Lit around and see what I can get. Here's the results:

Byz - 99 gold.

Mongols - RoP and 86 gold.

Sumeria - Try and get Monarchy for Lit but he wants me to throw in Republic too, so I pass. I'd love to have it for the coming war, but to rich for my blood. I trade it for 12 gold, and RoP, just to prevent the AI from making money from this.

America - Trade 34 gold, 1 GPT, Horse, and RoP for lit.

Just Kidding.:p Trade 34 gold for Lit. He wanted to much for construction as well.

Finally hit enter.

AI's Turn - The settler in Seatle heas north to boston. I think he's going to try and steal some Mongol land. Good.

Turn 1 10BC - (Are we off a turn again?) Move spear from Manp'o to Chonju. Move swords next to Philly, and fortify them near Pyongsong. I want to move about 4 or 5 swords outside of seatle and boston before I attack. All I see is swordman, and they can't have more then 2 per a town, so that should be fine to get at least 3 of their cities There's a settler I fortied in Chenju because I have no idea where to send him! We're out of real estate my friends.

Turn 2 - 10 AD
P'yongyang Swordman ==> Swordman
Hyangsan Swordman ==> Granary
Pyongsong Library ==> Spearman

And our palace gets some steps (Even if it's more of a cave then a palace)

Just do a few worker actions and keep getting our forces ready. No one has anything new to trade.

Turn 3 - 30 AD
Seoul Swordsman ==> Swordsman (Also grows to size 10!) It now can build a swordsman in 3 turns, with growth still on the way.

Lot of worker actions, building mines on BGs, and moved on to horse. We should have it connected very soon.

IBT - Saw America moving north towards Mongolia. I wonder if they're planning on attacking too. We can build the Temple of Artemis now, but don't select it. Think we should discuss any wonders or pre-builds before we do them.

Turn 4 - 50 AD
Namp'o Swordsman ==> Swordsman
Sariwon WARRIOR ==> barracks (Should have been the other way around but oh well) Going to take 40 turns to get it there, but that's at size 2 on unimproved plains. Should be able to get it faster as the size goes up.

Worker will have Horse connected in 3 turns. I'll keep making swordsman/spearman but we may want to build horseman for the extra movement. Up to the next player to choose.

IBT - Abe wants to swap Construction for Republic, but I refuse.
Byz starts Mausoleum of Mausollos.
Constantinople builds The Oracle.
Celtics cascade to Mausoleum of Mausollos.

Turn 5 - 70 AD
Have 5 Swordsman outside of Philly, 3 outside of Boston, and 2 on their way to Seattle. I think the next player should be ready to take at least 3 cities, or you may want to wait to get 4 more swords going towards Miami. I'll be sending some that way soon.
Some worker actions, nothing else.

IBT - This isn't good. America has been moving their settler back towards the south, and now is inside our borders! Lot of people cascade after Oracle was built. I have a feeling that the ancient wonder race is out of our hands. Going to change Seoul to Temple of Artimetis after it builds a sword.

Turn 6 - 90 AD
Seoul, P'yongyang == > Temple of Art ( Vetoable)
P'yongyang Swordsman ==> Swordsman
Wonson Temple ==> Spearman
Inch'on Walls == > Barrack
Keep working on mines and roads.

IBT - CHEER!!! Hovd decideds they're really Korean in disguse, so their decide to join us. How can I refuse?! Set it to produce Library for some culture.

Turn 7 - 110AD
We now have horse-es. Sariwon needs help so start moving that worker there. Sorry if he's not there before my turns our done.

IBT - Those damn Americans moved their settler pair inside our borders again. They want to rule the world or something? Oh good news... Hovd gave us enough cities to build the Forbidden Palace. That's worthy of some talk. Any ideas where to build it? The sooner the better now, and I've been doing it in what would be a second ring city for best results... at least that I've seen.

Turn 8 - 130 AD
Wonsan Spearman ==> Couthouse
(yawn)

Turn 9 - 150 AD
Missed Namp'o growing and it riots. Scroll ahead to prevent anymore.
Seoul is going to grow in 3, so don't do what I did and miss it.

Cheju Barracks ==> Swordsman

5 sword outside of Philly, 3 outside of Seatle, and 4 outside of Boston. Again, you may want to move some outside of Miami too.

Upgrade a vet warrior to swordsman

I'm guessing that I should actually end on 150AD, so I'm going to stop it here. If that screws up the order, then let the next person take one more turn.

All border cities but Chonju and Hovd have at least 2 defenders or will by next turn, and I think we're very close to starting the war.
Kaesong grows in one, but it won't riot.

We should really discuss if we should keep building The Temple in Seoul and where and when we should build the FP. I have a good feeling about the war, and think we can claim 4 cities withing 5 turns of starting the war, but I'm not sure how we're doing on the homefront for defense. Almost seems like a paper tiger to me... we're really not that greatly defended, but I like have 2 spears in each city before the middle ages. We may want to wait til we enter the middle ages, and make a few pikes, but with the new upgrade rates, it's going to be very expensive, and we may only get about 5 made with the money we have currently. We will be in the middle ages very soon though, and need to start getting some cash.

Here's the save

Got it, will wait for some discussion before I play, as I haven't been following the general trend-- I just finished reading all the logs.

The Temple is absolutely amazing for early conquests in my experience... It means every city we take will start with a temple and expand quickly. We should seriously consider making this wonder high priority.
About the FP, we need to decide how much we plan to conquer... Once we do, we should build the FP around the center of our eventual empire... We could also consider jumping our palace to the eventual center and putting the FP in our current core (this would probably maximize our production and commerce as best as possible).

Good set of turns. Two spears in each city should be sufficient as long as we keep consistent pressure on America. When we attack, I recommend groups of 5 as far as swordsman go, but groups of 3 or 4 may work on poorly defended cities. Hopefully the RNG will be kind to us. A palace jump may not be a bad idea, but it should wait until we finish off the Americans so we can get a better idea of where to put it. I would prefer to conquer our continent so we can finish our space race in peace. All of the AI civs will keep each other sufficiently busy on the other continent(s).

I agree about the Temple, that's why I started it, but just wanted to talk about it first. Seems we got a head start, but we may want to investigate... I think it's the Byz and the Celts who are building it now... and see how far they are along. Seoul is a big city now, but they did have a prebuild going.

As for the FP, to be truthful, with conquest my corruption ideas are all wacked out now. I've played a few Epic games, and still have no true idea about that. Anyone know or heard how it works in the new one?

In my last Epic, what I did was build the FP in the ancient ages, in my core, in the first ring out from the capitol, then when I conquoured the contient I was on, I jumped my palace to the middle of the contient and that worked very well, or seem too. Could just have been that it was the new capitol was close enough to the palace that it didn't much matter because the core was still close. We really need to take a look around and see what's going on with that.

One thing... once we get to the middle ages, lets turn research off, keep a scientist in Seoul, and let the AI reasearch us up to education. Only turn research on if one of them pulls ahead, and the others can't catch up.

And we need to start building suicide galleys! The more contacts we made, the more people who may have a tech that someone else we already know has. I've gotten like 5 free techs from the library just by making some contact with a new contient.

Whatever we do, we need that american land. Maybe not wipe them out, but we need those Miami, Boston, Philly, and Seatle. Those 4 cities were the cost of building the Library, and I don't know about y'all, but I don't like the Compromise, even if I'm the one who started the Library. Seems like the Mongols will stay our friend because we're both the same cultural group, but I wouldn't trust the others.

I think that's everything I was thinking since my post of turns. Good luck, and I think you're gonna have a fun time Smellincoffee.;)

The FP in C3C1.15b reduces corruption based on distance, but not based on rank. This basically means it still serves as a second core, but a much weaker one. So, if we make our main core in the center of our territory, and our minor core where our currect core is, we should get excellent production and commerce all around.

Why is it every time I come to bat, I'm either preparing for a war, starting a war, or finishing a war? :lol

Got it, will play.

I'm playing turn three, and we just learned monarchy from the Great Library. Have we had the Monarchy versus Republic argument yet?

Let's do so now. I saved the game. ;)

We're fairly large, so the lowest anarchy we'll probably get is six or seven turns. I am not in favor of revolting now. It can wait until after the American war, which will result in their obliteration.

I agree. Attack while a Despot and finish this war. Revolt to Monarchy afterwards. If we revolt now, it delays our war and increases the likelihood the Americans will get iron and/or get Feudalism and pikes.

As for earlier topics of discussion. I have no problem building the Temple, but if we can nab Feudalism sometime during this era, grab Sun Tzu's if possible instead. I'll take the free rax on our borders any day.

And I wouldn't turn off research in the middle ages. Conservatively research down the gunpowder line and let the AI learn the other branches for us. We want to keep a military edge as long as possible so we can take our continent. Research, but always at a profit to help with upgrades, rush builds, etc.

Take it to them, Smellincoffee! :hammer:

Why do you think we should go to monarchy after the war? Are we planning on warring with our neighbors, to wipe clean the contient, or are we going to try for growth first? I hardly ever fine a use for monarchy unless I'm planning on going to war. I think that's what we need to talk about. Warmonger for the next 50 turns or so, and wipe our contient clean of all but Koreans, or try and build up?

And aggree on Sun-Tzu. Is a very nice little piece of work there. If we have that, with the Temple, we'll be set for a conquest victory even.:p But It's to the moon for us, so away we go.

We have been discussing exactly that. Take control of our continent and coast to our space victory. Republic is nice but the unit support is a bit high. Plus with only one luxury to our name, going to Republic would cost us our MP's in our cities. Happiness would really be a problem then. In this game at least, unless we can grab some more luxuries, Monarchy is probably our only viable government. War with America won't even get us any extra luxuries.

Heh, just looked at the save. We are 1 turn from Currency. Middle ages here we come! :king: C'mon lucky 7, er Feudalism...

We're IN the middle ages, researching fedualism. Don't worry. ;)

If at all possible, I would like us to get both the Temple and the Art Of War.
