DGIT4-Maelstrom at Sea

Yeah, moving swords around is definately more fun than managing 100+ workers and trying to rail-road an entire continent...hence why I hate large and huge maps. Too many workers!

My pc is fixed now, I'm back guys :D

Welcome back to the fold SK.

I'm still surprised we're standing upright. We are playing on Demi-God after all. The only chance we have of pulling this out is if the AI starts going stupid. Hopefully we can just keep gaining territory little by little.

I think we better get ourselves into Morarchy ASAP. Although I don't know if we can afford anarchy while we are at war. We really need to keep pushing units out.

We might be able to swing a Monarchy revolt if we can build up a decent defensive force to hold back the Arabs for a few turns. With the number of cities we have, we shouldn't be in revolution for too long. I was really hoping we could swing to Monarchy after we settled with Abu, but with their new alliance, that isn't going to happen anytime soon. :(

Welcome back SK! Glad your PC is back on the up and up. How's it going there Oblivion?

Maybe we should switch to Feudalism when we can? It can be a heck of a gov't if you have small cities and need to fight every now and then. (Or even all the time with small breaks to stop the war weariness.)

I thought about Feudalism too. Haven't used it much and have read WW can be a bit annoying in it. With our city sizes and spacing, Feudalism does have possibilities, but its still something like 27-37 turns away give or take (if we are still min researching - not much different otherwise). We need to get out of Despot quickly as we need as much of an advantage from our lands as possible. It may just come down to not wanting to wait that many turns. WW is not much of an issue in Monarchy and is still a fine gov't for warring. Can you cash rush in Feudalism? I can't recall. Since we can't research very fast, min research is the ticket and we need ways to spend our moola.

Anyhow, it will probably only be available on SK's or Sandrock's turns anyhow. I don't think we really want to wait that long to switch governments.

Notepad has crashed on me - so here is a 16 year old student's memory of what happenned.

We took Damascus. Settled Birka next to ruins - next to horses, being hooked up. Killed a lot of Arab units around the area. 20 turns till Feudalism.
Russia has Republic and Feudalism. Spain has Mono and Feudalism. Everyone else parity or below is. No deals possible. Rey and Trondheim got up to 10 spt. 3 turn swords, 2 turn spears, archers and pults. Still at war with Arabs, won't give up a city. We have enough strength now to move on Baghdad i'm reckoning.

Sounds like a great set of turns there, Oblivion. With that Mongol alliance going, I don't think the Arabs are going to give up much for peace. But if we can raze Bagdhad, maybe take a couple of the north-west Arab cities, and that alliance ends its 20 turns, we should be able to squeeze the Arabs for something.

Next up is... Blas! You started this war, now get us out of it! :D

Oh gawd... Up again? Tomorrow, as usual.
Rhymes, DGIT is a succession game team which started at I think Chieftain or Warlord level in civ 3 and worked its way up to the final destination of DemiGod. The general idea was to improve our play. It worked. We'll probably continue on to Sid eventually... But we'll need a new name.

Humm, what exactly is DGIT?? I landed on this page through blasphemous's link and I'm getting curious.

Take a look at the page SmellinCoffee put together: Official Demigod in Training Web Page

We're basically a bunch of players who were around regent level or so striving to improve our games. Sandrock started a series of succession games to eventually improve our play so we can compete at some of civs higher levels. As you can see from this game, we making our first attempt at Demi-God now so we've come a long ways.

Kufah, one of the Northern cities, is 'close to a deal'. Muscat is 'doubtful'. Together the offer is 'insulting'.

Yeah, Abu gets into a deal with some far off nation and suddenly he's a lot pickier about giving in to the fiercesome Viking hordes. I still think once that alliance ends (hopefully at the end of the 20 turns), Abu will be a lot more reasonable. I can't think of any other reason for the sudden change of tune.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't suffer a rep hit if he signs peace once the 20 are out, no matter if he cancels the deal or not. Tomorrow, we will see.

I believe you're right there. My only point was that the terms of peace may be a lot amenable to us if the alliance was not in effect. But to your point, maybe he'll revert to pre-alliance state once the agreed upon 20 turns with Temujin are done. Whether you actually make peace or not, let us know how Abu's attitude changes.

Oh ****, I forgot to play. You know the drill... Tomorrow. =\

By the way, guys. For our next SG, I was thinking we could do an Always War on Monarch (since AW effectively adds two difficulty levels to the game). They're quite different from standard games, but considering the amount of warring this team does... :p

Let's see... DGT1 was Conquest, DGT2 was Spaceship, DGT3 was Domination...but remember all those wars in DGT2? ;)
