Not at all. Just give us the game already.
Not really. It did ruin my enthusiasm for this forum somewhat, however. It made me realise how autistic, whiny and annoying a lot of people here are.
You never know ;PI still wonder why firaxis didn't leave a quarter or so of civ reveals for the release day.
I do have a gnawing fear that the game just won't grab me like past iterations have. I am not the same person I was 6 years ago.
I plan to buy the game regardless.
The question I pose to you all, is perhaps had the leader/civ rollout not been spoiled maybe there'd be FAR more excitement. Had the multiple leader option reveal had not been so telegraphed maybe there'd be more enthusiasm.

As for the game I went from mildly sceptical to fully pumped by now. I have preordered long ago and can't wait for the release date.
I just can't get back to Civ5 after seeing all the preview videos...
Those early acces streams and lets plays on youtubes are rather annoying. because those youtuber's waste their time to doing lets plays now rather then when the game comes out and playing on higher difficulties. So they could played 5 different civs allready insteed of zero.
It olso ruins the fun of me exploring the game
I have always tried to push back against overly ambitious expectations on the forum.Civ V was like that for me, but i still pre-ordered VI and intend to start playing as soon as i can - which because of real life (with kids) may not be the first few days, but this game is going to last for years so no worries.
The rollout from Firaxis was very good i think, but started a bit too early and was tainted by the leaks.
And I absolutely see how echo chambers (like this forum!) can spiral your expectations to the point where the real thing feels anticlimactic. Not the first time, nor the last. We just have to learn to handle hype.
I feel your pain, I might be in the same boat. It happened to me with Civ4 as well. I nearly built a whole new PC to run it, but I decided to be responsible instead and wait until I'm a little more established. I'll need to build a few more workers and get some farms going before spending so much on that entertainment districtI failed hard, because I hyped very much for the game before realizing I won't be able to play it at all for few first MONTHS after release because of
a) Lack of money for PC upgrade allowing me to display civ at all (and all money is currently going for higher priority goals)
b) Lack of time, as the great eduational challenge is in front of me
