Diety Game #2: Crowded House

Rome disappears off the map. The terrifying new Greek war machines fan out in every direction. Roman cavalry are slaughtered mercilessly. Their desperate counterattacks are foiled at every turn.

The Turks put up a surprisingly determined fight as the Greek advance reaches their capital; Istanbul is defended by a dozen heavily-fortified units, but their technology is simply too far behind.

Istanbul turns out to be a trophy worth keeping:

Whoa!!! That was quick! :D How many turns did that take?

I think around 20. I didn't really get a good count, the game was going by so fast.... :)

The Persians....well, they had plenty of time to see the writing on the Great Wall:

And that's a wrap. Second diety win under my belt--now I'm gonna be full of myself for like a month. :D

POST-GAME
To those of you who encouraged me to go ahead and play that awful-looking start: thank you very much. :) To those of you who just wanted to see me get steamrollered.....well, I guess I let you down again..... :crazyeye:

Next time y'all get a cheesy start in a game, though....think it over before throwing it and rolling a new map.

The Crowded House format produced mixed results here. With so little room to move, a single extra city can make a huge difference. In that respect, I actually got lucky. Note from the world map of the starting positions, that I actually had a nice chunk of free space to work with. That, and the choke point on my east side were game-savers!

While I played heavier on military at the start of the game this time around, I still had a few of the same habits I've retained in Diety games, such as building temples. Going for that first Army, however (instead of a Wonder) made the conquest of my home territory that much easier. Armies were responsible for a large percentage of my kills this game (well, up until the Tanks came along....then the numbers changed real fast!)

Thank you all for coming! :wavey:

(4000 BC save file is attached, by the way--PTW version 1.27f)

Yay!!! :D A very satisfying ending. :)

By the way, a couple of questions:
- Why are you playing PTW? Have you not got Conquests? ;)
- What's up next for BasketCase? Any more stories planned? If so, I know that I'll definitely be along for the ride... along with many other fans, I'm sure!!!

Impressive. Congratulations on your victory :goodjob: Tanks really rule the world.

BasketCase, you've done it again! Can I have your Autograph? ;)

EDIT: So...whats next? Diplo? Space?

Basket, your stories are as good as sulla's! These updates are the ones I look forward to the most man. Congrats on the win, and if you ask me I think you're ready to try an Always War game as a story. :D

Or, maybe just move on to Deity level on Conquests (which is actually a bit harder than Deity level on PTW). :)

Excellent game. Extremely entertaining. Thank you for the memories Basket. Now....do it again on Sid please. :)

Great game, Basketcase! A lot of fun to read!! :goodjob:
