I wonder what this means?

Edit: Right after posting this, I had the thought that maybe it's due to latitude? Maybe those are "tundra coast" tiles... next time I boot this save, I'll check.

I certainly don't remember seeing this in R&F and the Dutch are my favorite to play so I've seen a lot of polders.

Speaking of snow, that harbor looks snowy. I don't remember that happening in pre GS games either...

Tundra/snow areas cover everything with a layer of snow. See how your campus, harbor, and city center look like on this screenshot.
 
Maybe it is just a variation for the flowers the Dutch plant. Ever been there when the tulips are in bloom? The land is covered in color.
 
I can't tell you how many times I've played the Netherlands yet somehow I've never noticed this :eek:
 
I noticed that in my Netherlands game a few days ago.

Today I just noticed Huey Teocalli has snow on it! I built it in a small lake (really the only available spot for a city that was free) in the tundra/snow. I've never noticed this graphical feature before.
