digital deluxe edition?

I never bought deluxe editions of past games. In the past weren't all the DLCs bundled into the expansion packs anyway?

In Civ V (the only previous version to have minor DLCs) a few of the DLC civs were included in the major expansions but most still had to be purchased individually.

that is unfortunate, I really want to know what they plan for the first wave at least.
I dont they will release just one civ, I think a double civ DLC, another civ DLC or two with scenario and leader, and the rest maps, leaders and scenarios. although im prbably optimistic,

I agree, i don't think they would describe the digital deluxe as adding new leaders and civilizations and then the 4 dlcs having only one leader/civ.

I hope they won't release DLCs with just one alternate leader and ask for 5$ for that. That would be extremely sad.
That is the price for full civs (Babylon, polynesia, vikings, for example) for Civ V. But it has been six years for the price to go up...

don't forget there's the 25 years anniversary soundtrack as well, so the DLCs wont be the only reason you fork out extra $20, but if the DLCs are still as bare bones as predicted by many here, then its worth to think it through before buying

According to the main Civilization preorder site, the Digital Deluxe will be cheaper than buying one at a time. Source.

I'm a completionist and a huge music geek, so it's really no question. :)

Oh, yeah. No question there. The question is if the 4 dlc will be worth the money at the cheaper price, or if several of them will be junk. And thus, one could cherry pick and just buy the good ones at the higher price and still spend less money.

I'm biased mind you, but I don't think it's in their best interest to make any of them trash. They know people want civs and leaders, with quality side content, and this is their first time "pre-selling" them. I imagine they want people buying the digital deluxe/season pass for the next expansion too.

The question you should be asking yourself... Are you willing to wait 3-4 months for a sale version of it since it's firmly entrenched in steam and you KNOW by next summers sale, almost all of it cept the latest content will be half off or more.

I think if you are here... the answer is probably no?

I'm guessing both. It'll be cheaper than buying them separately, but I expect at least one of the four to be a map pack, which I don't care about.

Still bought the Deluxe version, but that's more for comfort, not so much if it'd be a better deal or not.

The same. Although the words about civilizations and leaders suggest there are at least 2 civs and some alternative leaders, which is enough for me.

The U-Boat is already in the game, they kinda teased a certain British plane in the AI war... I'm really hoping one of the 4 packs is like full on Axis vs Allies type scenario with new leaders for all the major powers involved. (Yes I know it means making leaders with some pretty historically horrible people)

If we are being honest, the only one they would 100% avoid is probably just Hitler and use some general that History does not 100% hate (I'm thinking along the lines of Rommel as I do not think he is a controversial guy in the eyes of history). Heck, I think Stalin was a default leader in Civ4, so they can use him. The Italy leader (I can't spell his name) Mouselini they could probably replace because let's be honest, how many people in general know who he was or would even care if he was left out. Japan could use the Emporer as again, I do not think history paints him in such a negative light that he could not be used.

No, sadly they seemed to be holding off for as long as possible to push the sales up. Personally, I find it really unlikely that the four are going to be anything other than (in no particular order)
a) Poland, (like Babylon for V)
b) Isabella (and maybe a scenario)
c) map pack
d) map pack and/or scenario(s)

I remember someone mentioning that Persia was a likely post-launch, pre-expansion DLC

I find their policy regarding the deluxe edition weird... Guess they would sell way more deluxe editions if they at least hinted something?!?

Except they know people would be disappointed, in this case their behavior would probably make sense

I just ordered the digital deluxe.

For me, $5 for an alternate leader would actually be worth it. I won't pay for maps/scenarios, though - unless it was an enormously huge TSL earth map. But I'll always pay for new civs or leaders.

Hmm? No, that doesn't seem relevant. I know I want the game- AI problems aside, it looks like a far more complete game than V or Beyond Earth were on release (or even now, in the case of the latter). I just don't see the point of setting an extra $20 on fire for unknowns, that given their history with DLC, will very likely consist of trash. So I'll just buy the base version rather than pay for shady business practices (selling unknowns strikes me as very sketchy indeed)
