We need to figure out how to make this a trio for a sling and leave TNT in the dust. What is it worth to D'nuts (thru MIA) to have all of us sling together and get out of the AA as soon as possible? Is it all techs we have and will research till republic is in all of our hands?

well, first we need to meet them ASAP (or trust MIA with handling it for us )
then maybe:
donuts give us writing, while we (kiss + mia) research CoL and LIT or MM or BOTH C Techs, or ALL.
team going for philo should be the slowest one.
CoL team gives it to PHIL team. get REPUBLIC.
we ALL (KISS, MIA and DONUTS) share the techs. (REP, LIT, MM, POLY or more if needed.)

this is NOT number crunched, just a preliminary idea.

if something similar is achieved, we can be out of the AA pretty quick, me thinks.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't want just 3 teams in this game. TNT could be a powerful ally. What happens if MIA/D'nut turn on us. We will need a partner. We need to see who is in the NW ASAP.

East of them. so that means ~20 turns before our little dinghy can get to the SE of OUR island. I say let d'nut find us. They will eventually. MAybe Ave. Joe can go S along the coast to facilitate an earlier meeting.

OK I think this is the discount we are talking about.
On Regent, the AIs pay the same cost (for technology) as the player. On Monarch, the AI Cost Factor is 90%, which is also expressed as "10% discount". Emperor is Cost Factor 80% (20% discount.) Deity is Cost Factor = 60% (40% discount.) etc.

Everyone good with these numbers for pricing tech?

So the fog clears and some possible misunderstandings are solved. Good. Obviously MIA is playing a different game than we do. They think everyone should be involved as a learning experience, which is cool, and we think we should win, also cool. I don't think you can have the former and still get the latter. That makes MIA a weak partner but a good neighbour . By the looks of it, MIA has been honest albeit a bit clumsy. Why they made the pot->BW deal i dunno. Hadn't we agreed on pot-->wheel by then? Maybe they will give us wheel w/o pot now? I would like to ask them that specific because if they did the deal after our agreement they have robbed us of our payment to them. Anyway, we don't have to help them grow if we don't see them as long term partners. On the contrary, we should outexpand them as much as possible without being hostile. If they only have 1/3 of the continent and we have an overseas partner they will be of no big threat IMO.
The 3 party rep sling us/MIA/Nuts would be great and I don't think it would be hard to get Nuts in on it. I guess they're more than eager to leave TNT behind. With that said I also think Tubby has a point. Our best choise for buddy might be TNT. When all opponents are met we will have a better pic of who to gang up with and I agree that it should be the most powerful tribe on the other continent whoever that is.

I was under the impression that they would make the pot for wheel deal if we added some gold or something to make it worthwhile, and we wanted a straight-up trade this time with potentially giving them a better deal at some other time. If they had a second and better offer from d'nuts, it would only have been fair to allow us to make a counter offer. I think that's how business is fairly conducted in the "real" world, and the sale goes to the highest bidder.

And, yes, they are extremely clumsy! I think it's very nice that they try to give everyone a chance to learn, but mentoring only works if the mentor and pupil are available to each other. This way it only has the huge potential for misunderstanding and hard feelings.

Maybe if this type of game is done again, it should be required that each team post a summary of their organizational structure (or lack thereof). I can't imagine it being a problem for us to let the other teams know that we are a friendly anarchy and that we each do what we're best at, giving authority to each other after discussion on general policies. Not sure where I fit in except as a talkative lurker, but that works for me.

To me it seems quite likely that MIA and D'nuts had a research agreement from turn 1. The rules don't forbid this, right? Why else would you not go for writing-philo and not even research pottery. Because your research partner got all those, it's just a matter of finding them quickly. And they did. I don't have a good feeling about this.

It is illegal to have out of game contact. We have to go on the honor of each team and I'm sure the admins could piece together any action that was deemed cheating by watching various players actions.

However, I am not surprised that they would give up BW since we already had it but didn't have wheel. We need to be wary now because this could be used again with the techs they are researching unless we get writing now through some type of deal with MIA and in effect D'nuts.
