Diplomatic Relations

Looking good there Rik!

Don't share the spreadsheet. They don't need to know how we know just that we know. They need to trust us this one.

We need to have MIA look at their power graph. That will confirm whether or not Donuts have lost a city or not.

Very nice photo, Rik. I tried learning and playing duplicate bridge about 25 years ago. My partner would tell me after the hand that I should have played "x" card before playing "y" card, and I'd never remember having played either one of them in any special order. I just don't have the memory for it. Prolly should have stuck with "friendly" bridge games and don't play at all anymore. :(

Homer will need an extension of up to 24 hours beyond the normal time.

Edit: 9/20 18:30 Arizona: Let's make that 48 hours.

Look at the edit.... :hmm:..... data suggests that D'nut attacked TNT. these delays are looking like TNT attacked the nutters.....:hmm:.....

I remembered something from another PBEM game..... after we hit save & exit the score will be updated. If you look at the graphic below. It looks like TNT's curve is not increasing as much.

Code:
	[U][B]34[/B][/U]	[U][B]35[/B][/U]	[U][B]36[/B][/U]	[U][B]34->35[/B][/U]	[U][B]35->36[/B][/U]
D'nut	134	137	140	+3	+3
Tnt	155	158	160	+3	+2
Mia	132	134	137	+2	+3
Kiss	130	134	138	+4	+4

They are going to press us on the power of being ag (the last topic he mentions which was diplomatically avoided :mischief: ).

We need to start thinking of how we will respond and what we are willing to give for writing.
Free dyes? They will be extremely unhappy methinks when they find this out.

Hey Werner,
I sent Emp. the conversation by email. It got a little whacky around the house last night and I couldn't figure out how to send it so tell him I'm sorry for the delay. Did you see we returned the agreement too?
'Nardo

Hey Bernie

Not yet ... he hasn't signed in yet ... I look forward in archiving your agreement ... sorry about leaving the conversation at such an important juncture ... really must have iritated the neighbours and wildlife with the loud frenzied swearing so early in the morning ... Oh well ...

... I eagerly await the response to the last topic ...

BTW ... I'm more of a Roxy Music fan myself ... well glam wise ... or Bowie and T-Rex

cya :goodjob:
I don't think I could tell you one Kiss song....hehe. U2, Tom Petty, Zep for me any day.

As far as the ag trait I'm not sure what MIA would propose. Let us know what your expectations are so we can commiserate amongst our anarchist idiots.

On science you have the obvious advantage of contact and the capability to trade with Donuts. Hopefully we can reciprocate in this regard soon and the Admiral is cracking the whip as we speak.

We are fully confident with our growth that we should be able to maintain a very high level of research even without a scientific trait. Tell us what you expect from us if you believe co-researching to republic is unfair if you receive writing.

The unfortunate aspect of each our research choices was the overlap where anticipated MIA and Donuts would run straight to writing or pottery. We only hit 50% on that guess.

Just tell them that we are securing them from the dougnut horde

Okay, an idea strikes me.

It would depend on how forthcoming MIA has been, but here is the outline.

Let's EACH of us, MIA and KISS support one of the factions with the full knowledge of our partner to prolong the conflict and bleed them white.

We would obviously keep let Nuts and TNT know that we are in contact with one another, but we could keep our close working relationship a secret and then funnel tech/money for now (units in the future) to whatever team is weakest using our own situation on our continent as a rationale as to what we can or can't do at any given moment.

This would allow us to bring the resources of three civs to bear against any either TNT/Nuts at any given moment without their knowledge. We could prop them up, tear them down several times perhaps, all while we develop and progress and get what we can from them.

This would only work if Nuts don't know about how friendly we and MIA are.

It would also require quite a bit of trust between us and MIA and is somewhat complex, so I need more experienced voices on how workable/beneficial this would be.

Just my thoughts.

Sinceerly,

Otto vonKickBooti

I like this idea of supporting a prolonged war, if that is what it is, btw Nuts and TNT. May be we could sign up, with the weakest, for say 20 turns and then renegotiate. If the tables are turning we could say "starting to look good for you, it's been a pleasure to help but now we would like to tend to our own buissness, good luck". We can balance this support with MIA so we don't create a monster (maybe we "give" a lux and they chip in some cash so they (nuts/TNT) can pay for it, then we can ship some gold back to MIA and keep some as "courtage"). If we deal smart we can cut that continent open and let it bleed while making a buck. When they start to look pale The Green Continent can launch and invasion fleet. With the very skilled warheads on our team I would be surprised if we cut the smallest piece of that cake.
In this perspective 1-2 settlers on an early galley would be useful to grab a foothold asap. If the gap is where we assume, that's a nice distance from our core to keep those troops pouring in.

Prolonged conflict is exactly what I'm proposing.

Both MIA and KISS could 'pick a pony' on the other continent. Let's say we get TNT and MIA gets the Nuts. If the Nuts look strong, KISS/MIA funnel tech/gold/lux to TNT via our relationship. If TNT has the upper hand KISS/MIA funnel support to the Nuts through MIA's relationship.

We never break our 'public' front in terms of our 'alliance' with the other continent, but in reality it is our alliance with MIA that dictates what our other-continent actions would be, and vica versa.

This requires a great deal of trust in MIA, after all, if 'their' client civ is on the uptake they could secretly encourage a rollover our 'client' and then double-team us. The input of AK, Whomp, Tubby and those who have had the most contact with MIA would be invaluable as to their trustworthiness. This agreement would transcend simple 'Ages,' it would be a long-term stratigic arrnagement.

Also, I would propose keeping the support for the 'clients' in the form of loose arrangements. If they are on the upswing I wouldn't even say, 'it looks like your doing fine,' I would probably say something like, 'pressing needs at home demand more of our rescources now...'

As I've said in the past, I'm an ideas guy; good or bad I don't know - the Grumpies will have to comment...

PS This all hinges on what MIA has told the Nuts to date.

Prolonged conflict is exactly what we need. Keeping them at war will allow us to grow strong in comparison. I know we can grab a bigger slice of the pie, if not most of it.

This is a short blip of the end of conversation with MIA. The full dialog is in the mailbox but from all indications it was TNT that lost a city. They dropped to +2 on score from 3 and Donut stayed at +3. There are very strange happenings indeed.
Spoiler :
bawhomp: provo's comments..Turn 36 sent TNT We are all good my friend :)
bawhomp: brb again...more boxes. hehe
fe3333au: Boxes are good ;-)
fe3333au: If I get cut off again ... I will start another chat room ...
Kentharu1: perhaps a taunt, knowning Provo and his sarcasm it probably is
fe3333au: Why is it that when Provo says something like that ... it has a sinister tone
fe3333au: even with a smilie
fe3333au: Taking time sorry
Kentharu1: cause everyone knows what he is like :-P
fe3333au: Ken we have Emp on-line want to invite him and brief him?
Kentharu1: sure
bawhomp: i'm back
bawhomp: everyone here still?
Kentharu1: yup
Kentharu1: i am'
bawhomp: fe shows but may have taken a coffee break. heh
Kentharu1: probably
Kentharu1: and emp seems to be away or something
fe3333au: D-Nut Militay same wrt MIA
fe3333au: MIA is second in land area
bawhomp: wow
bawhomp: what was their military last turn do you remember?
bawhomp: did you capture f11?
fe3333au: I have too many windows open
fe3333au: but that suggests undefended city yes
fe3333au: D-Nuts is still top rival in % population
fe3333au: so TNT lsot city?
fe3333au: *lost
Kentharu1: they might have swaped cities or something
bawhomp: how about score?
Kentharu1: or is that not possible?
bawhomp: I can't remember that rule.
fe3333au: 140 D-Nuts ... TNT 160
fe3333au: Anything else ?
Kentharu1: mind if Emp joins?
EmperorNapoloen has entered the room.
Kentharu1: nvm
bawhomp: hey emp
EmperorNapoloen: he hey hey
bawhomp: It seems that tnt tailed off if i'm reading it right.
EmperorNapoloen: I'm doing homework and this, so I am halfway active
bawhomp: homework first brah!
EmperorNapoloen: :p
fe3333au: I will get previous F-11
fe3333au: hi enp
fe3333au: *emp
EmperorNapoloen: hey
bawhomp: from what I can see on the graph it was TNT's loss. Strange...why won't donut talk?..strange..so many questions so few answers.
fe3333au: yes
fe3333au: Comparison of VP next
Kentharu1: i think d-nut simple has to much on their plate
fe3333au: Nutter from 137 -> 140
fe3333au: TNT from 158 -> 160
fe3333au: any other comparison info help this analysis
Kentharu1: not to big a jump
fe3333au: Turn before TNT = 155, Nutters = 134
bawhomp: donut stayed at 3 but tnt has dropped from 5 to 4 to 4 to 3 to 2 this turn
fe3333au: so TNT jumped only 2 not expected 3
fe3333au: Whomp your figures relate to what?
bawhomp: per turn
fe3333au: VPs?
fe3333au: yep ... we were posting same thing
bawhomp: yes they only increased 2 this turn so their slope is flattening
fe3333au: so TNT has lost a city
bawhomp: Donut did it.
bawhomp: lol
fe3333au: lol yes
bawhomp: great minds think at the same time
bawhomp: or at least idiot minds <wink>
fe3333au: ;-)
fe3333au: sinelity?
fe3333au: But why if they have no tech
fe3333au: hold on
fe3333au: well tnt havn't traded any of the military techs we have
fe3333au: or ... it wouldn't show up yet would it?
bawhomp: maybe it's in transit?
fe3333au: even if it was gifted D-Nuts would not have received until after your turn
fe3333au: Any luck with contact Emp?
bawhomp: he's doing homework.
EmperorNapoloen: n vjfjd
EmperorNapoloen: I emailed them
EmperorNapoloen: and none of them have been on AIM or MSN for a while
bawhomp: Comments from Beorn el Feared when asked how he joined this demogame... Conscription fell over canada and I got sucked in by the army ...lol...he's funny.
bawhomp: Emp. I feel sorry for ya. You've got your work cut out for you. Gentlemen on that note I think I am going to play some civ and steal some techs from the Russians.;-)
EmperorNapoloen: work what work
EmperorNapoloen: lol
fe3333au: cya Whomp
EmperorNapoloen: farwell
fe3333au: I'll post this on the thread

So does MIA have contact with TNT as well?
No they do not. At least they have given us no indication that they've met TNT. BTW Booti I lobbed out your thoughts as "one school of thought says" type thing but no comments were returned on it yet.

It will be interesting to see. Maybe this should be under 'mapping our opponents', but if MIA seems agreeable to the idea would they honorably/competently work with it?

I guess I'm looking at Whomp for input on this.

Hmm...I would say no one can be completely trusted. The best place I know of for human vs. human games is at CDZ.

This is a spoiler thats a good read where a great long-term relationship resulted in a early IA backstab. If you have time to read the thread I recommend it but be aware that certain words can be used at CDZ. ;)

Fab four and the great deceit.

I PM'd Provo this:

Hi Provolution
This pm is obviously not an "in-game" move, but a question to you about something you posted in the main thread.

Provolution said:
I am certain this was made public as a part of a defamation campaign for diplomatic purposes and as a joint intelligence gathering campaign on another continent before anyone met.

Am I correct in seeing this as a suggestion that KISS and MIA have had contact and made deals before it was allowed? I do not want to post this offically since I might have missed your actual point.
Would you be so kind to straighten this question mark out for me.

Regards
Daghie
If my take on this is the correct one he has stepped waaaay out of line methinks. I'll stay a way cool dude and await his response.
