Diplomatic Relations

I'm not sure that's a good idea dag....If they have the upper hand over there, then they might now be able to help us any. After they become either dead or the sole owners of the other continent they won't have any techs that will be new to us.

OTOH, I don't think that we should be begging them to talk as MIA has done with D'nut.

But I'm not that good at manipulating people

im for waiting a turn or two.
they wont be dead nor overlords in that brief time.
it will also seem to them that we MIGHT ALREADY KNOW the donuts.
which is good (in a BADDD way  )

dagh + ak + bede seems the prefered reps.

I don't think sending them an IM or PM acknowledging contact would be a bad thing.

I agree with Soul-man. Don't gush, make them think we've done this first contact thing twice already.

Remember, they think we are idiots, so we can drop the flowerly language and go with something informal, maybe even vaugely ominous like "Howdy, neighbor. Nice continent you have here."

Or, if we want to give them something to chew on we could say, "Hey, neighbor. Can we borrow a cup of sugar?" It doesn't mean anything, but I'm sure they would read all sorts of stuff into it.

I can't wait to read the IM...

Oh, I'm sorry, I missed a page or two

Edit: or 3 ...

@Kickbooti: I like your second suggestion. It will make them confused :D

how about this?
howdy stranger. might you happen to be in possesion of a cup of flour? and some sugar?
we have a birthday party coming up and want to bake some donuts for Homer?
they can read lots of stuff into this. especially if they are mongerling about.
we can be friendly yet firm, at war (or not with the donuts) all sorts of stuff.

I like Booti's suggestion of saying howdy Buckeraroos. We can gain great knowledge by talking to them. It doesn't mean we have to do anything but if we can accelerate our mission then we should talk.

What I would suggest is we tell them that idiots can only count to 20 so a 20 turn NAPs (non aggression pacts) is as far as we can go.

One other thought is if we can make an agreement to have them focus on the less important monarchy path (which they'd want as warmongers) we can give them a headstart if they'll trade poly and monarchy back. How about that?

Concur with the Whompster.

Saying Howdy is a good thing.

It's hard to say what the trading options/preferences will be without knowing what they lack but hitting f4 next turn will help regarding this won't it? I think we should wait with pm'ing until we have that info. In general I would like to avoid any sort of pact with either of Nuts/TNT but limit co-op to techs and gold and preferebly no gpt-deals. Reason is that I think it helps us in being flexible in supporting whatever side is struggling the most.
If I understand you correctly W you suggest luring them to go Monarchy by giving them CB-Myst and getting Poly and Monarchy back? That might be fine if we can agree with MIA on it so we don't give the Myst they've researched away without their say.
Side note: Shall we inform MIA right away that we have spotted TNT borders. I think we should.

I think that MIA know that we've spotted TNT borders. I mentioned it to fe.

We can't PM them until at least our next turn. We haven't officially met in-game yet. We are still 2 tiles away from their border and are just able to see them. After we send the save we should (hopefully) be able to see in CA2 what they have that we don't. But IIRC, it didn't show us immediately with MIA. So I'm hoping that we can see what they have. I know we can see what we have that they don't via the Diplo screen. So we definately need a screenie of that.

I'm for sending the 'Howdy' message ASAP. Put the ball in their court and see how they respond. Arogant, desperate, whatever will give us a clue as to how to proceed.

We can always play the anarchist/idiot card to buy time; I don't see any reason to jump into any type of agreement with them.

I'm also for letting MIA know that we are about to make contact. There's no harm in it and it builds continued trust.

contact can't be made officially or unofficially until ingame contact is made next turn on TNT's turns or ours

will let bede talk and use big words. say hi asap, then gather info before starting IM
I like this plan. Our distinguished monk can dazzle them with BS.

Or we could ask them to clear out the barb camp like we did for them

EDIT:: but alas fe is not online.

Maybe we should ask them if they have already met their neighbours MIA? I think it'll tell us many things, as well as tell them even more false things :D

This note was attached to T44. I have replied via Gmail in kind.

Dear KISS friends,

Here is turn 44.

We have gifted you Mysticism. Please accept it as a token of our
friendship and trust.
We look forward to your completion of writing.

All the Best,
President General W

All the indicators point to a meeting with TNT on the coming turn (44) which I have picked up.

Before we pass the game on to the 'nutters I would like to have the contact note prepared and sent to TNT, then we pass the game on. If we can set it up and get it done tonight, then we will have until 7:00 PM on Saturday to wait for their response and adjust our moves and inform our contacts of the actions we have taken in that regard and still be within the 24 hour limit.

Any questions or concerns regarding this approach?

@Dagh + AdmK and the rest of the team- I will be monitoring MSN tonight until midnight eastern time so we can finalize the approach to TNT and how we want to handle the new contact vis-a-vis MIA.

I will be back online tomorrrow (Saturday) after 1:00PM for any further discussion.

I do not plan to do anything with the save tonight other than open and review the local situation and do the needed citizen management.
