Ok, so I got Bts, which i purchased through Steam, so my game starts through the Steam application. How do I create a desktop shortcut that can directly load a mod, instead of loading up the original game, then loading up the mod from the main menu?

Try this, go into your BtS folder, find the .exe file, right click on it and select 'create shortcut'
place the shortcut on the desktop
then right click on the shortcut and select properties. look in target
In the target line, after the " add in mod=/NameOfMod

That's how you make a direct shortcut to a mod in regular civ, not sure if it works in steam. if it doesn't see Steam mod problems thread

Sorry to bump an old post.

But I have the Steam version of Civ4 BTS too... and i Found out how to direct load a mod from an windows shortcut.

I started the mod by the normal game and looked the properties-command line on the Process Explorer.

My shortcut points to:

"D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization iv beyond the sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" multiple mod="Mods\Rhye's and Fall of Civilization"

NOTE: My steam is installed to D:\Games\Steam
