Nasty.
How did you feel about the balance on that choice if it hadn't come around at such a critical time?
That particular choice was: WLTKD in all Cities, however you begin the first half of this time in Anarchy. Unhappiness thresholds for Illiteracy and Poverty are permenantly reduced by 10%.
First of all, noticing there's a typo there (straight from the XML). Anyways, I was trying to avoid it as much as I could (I was a couple turns from Atomic Era when it struck, meaning I could have selected the +20% faith from Temples instead...ugh).
First off, to be remotely worthwhile you would need a very wide empire I would think, to make best use of the threshold reductions. WLTKD in all cities but half of that time to spend in anarchy is a steep price to pay, especially this late in the game. Even if there's nothing important/critical at the moment, 6 turns of total anarchy is no joke. Happiness
plummets, yields are nonexistant, literally nothing can get produced for 6 turns, empire wide. Especially since you can't delay or choose the turn which to start your anarchy, you could very well get stuck at a terrible time like a world project, wonder, middle of an important war, etc.
WLTKD isn't that difficult to achieve at this stage by comparison, and the threshold reductions would be more 'worth it' if they came earlier in the game I would think. This would have felt better if I had an option to do absolutely nothing if I wanted, as it was it honestly felt like a 'bad' event like a blight.
