Discovery NES I: Bethel

Also no dual weapon fighting. It's silly and impractical, for one, and if I were to allow it it would be in a more sensible form like rapier + dagger.

fine, i'll fight with one at a time, it's always better to have two. can i wield my chain as a second weapon?

No. Either sword+board or just a sword. A chain's even more impractical than another sword!

Also, as a Skelle, he'd not really be into the scimitars of the northern cultures (Skelle occupy the cold regions of southern Zariji). He'd more so have the weapons identified with Nordic vikings.

I'll be PMing you more about the Skelle history, Megaman, do not share it to anyone else. Also, I'll be PMing you ways to make your background fit in with the game's lore as well as the perks associated with the Skelle.

THere is another possibility. Rapier + Large piece of cloth(duelists threw it at another's face to blind and confuse them while....STAB!)

I know he wouldn't be into the scimitars at first, but remember he got captured at 18, and now he's 35. that's why he has a pseudo-arabic name and uses scimitars. and he's not really dual wielding the sword and chain. he just has the chains strapped to his wrists, and in the middle of fighting, he might happen to swing one at his opponent's face since he doesn't have a shield. he could also use it as a flail, wrap it around their sword and pull it out of the way for a quick slice. (some of these are a little improbable, but it's not really the dual wielding i'm arguing, it's using two swords, not necessarily simultaneously.) He'll probably just be ambidextrous, and once one sword is broken, or flung out of his hand, he switches hands and swords.(which would give him an advantage)

Scimitars are near impossible to disarm. Good opponents will never attempt to break your sword. Good opponents will never attempt to fling a short sword like scimitar out of your hand also (it's impossible. It's easier for a guy wielding a dagger to disarm a guy using a claymore than vice-versa). If, however, your opponent has the speed of lightning and strength of T-rex and is able to do just that, he will be able to take you down in the next 0.1 second. Much quicker than you can pull out your second sword.

Wrapping a chain around your hand and using it as a flail is worse than using duel swords. 85% of the time, you will catch your own sword. It's better to have a large piece of cloth. It provides good defence and you can fling it at an opponent in close range to blind them.

Wrapping a chain on his wrists and using it as a shield, you can do better with a leather glove. It's much lighter and you can use it to turn your opponent's thrust and their silly big cuts.

Seriously, simplicity is what wins the battle. In Historical Fencing class, even if option is given to me, I prefer not to take a dagger alongside a rapier.

i know it may be more practical, but my guy is a dirty fighter, and a brute. he's not gonna go out and try to find a cloth to throw at someone, when he has a chain already wrapped around his wrist. Besides, he's been in chains for the last 17 years of his life, the weight doesn't really affect him much.

Also keep in mind, these are not his basic fighting tactics, these are for the odd, 1 in 100 times when he might need to use his chains as a weapon. The only time he will intentionally use his chains as a weapon is when he is once he has disarmed a particularly hateful opponent and wants to kill him/her with the chains they forced upon him. (using the chain to disarm someone was not meant to be used against scimitars, it was just in general, if he wanted to do this...etc.)

No chains- even though there is a fantasy bent in this NES a chain is just way too silly. Maybe if he used a chain for his only weapon, but that would not be very Skelle at all.

no, he's not using the chains as a weapon, he's wearing them as symbols of his time in captivity and imprisonment. And since in desperation you use anything as a weapon, he uses them in the most extreme desperate situations.

come on, you have to allow them... as symbols of all the skelle's suffering under the cruel oppression of Kherballa. Please.

I think Dance.Down (gender?) is saying that you can keep it but you cannot use it as a weapon. I for one would use a sharp writing utensil as a weapon before trying to use a chain.

Why would an escaped slave wear the very signs of his bondage in a society that is more than happy to recapture him? It's bad enough that he's a 6"10, blonde, blue eyed foreigner; chains would be adding insult to injury.

He can have his chains, but will they be used in combat? Not for any advantages, possibly disadvantages even.

Yay!! i get my chains.

to answer your question. he's been wearing them for the past 17 years of his life, and based on what i pmed you about his past, they are almost a slap in the face to the Kherballa.

Beware. slapping 10000000 armed and raving men may result in permanant disabilities such as getting ripped to shreds.

yeah, cause my one guy is gonna take on 10000000 men with nothing but his chains!!!!!

FREEDOM!!!!!

(oh the irony)

Remember the Alamo as well in that case :p

yeah, i'll just build the Alamo, chain myself to it, then remember it all in 1 turn.

Beat that!!!

by the way, i am actually serious about this nes. (it's sorta hard to say that after the whole alamo thing, but still, don't hate because of it)

I think we need to get started quickly...pre-NES chatter gets silly and boring after a while.

W00t!

BTW D.D, what is the political situation between nations like? Is there any opportunity for government-sanctioned action against other nations?

Ooh, looking forward to it. (^_^)
