This is a thread for different views on life, God, humanity, etc that are believed by different sects of Christianity and other religions. If u hv comments please limit them to Muslem, Christian, or Jewish theologies as these religions support the belief in one God. I am a Catholic so i will probably hv diff views than a lot of u. Please post! i hv absolutely NO intention of discriminating, condemning, etc! i am open to all comments!

This is off topic but, would you happen to be a Red Luft Ballon?

I accidentally clicked Catholic instead of Protestant. Oh well, I worship in a Catholic church anyhow.

Edit: Seeing how this is the OT forum, I should like to point out that today, the 16th of April, is my one-year aniversary as a Civ Fanatic. How nice. (I had to write it somewhere!)

I am a Catholic and as such believe in one ominpotent, all-powerful, all-loving God. I believe all of the Bible is religiously true. I know that some, not all, of the Bible is NOT historically true (ex. of historically incorrect but religiously true: Job, Genesis, Noah, Jonah) I believe in the Trinity of Father, Son, and Spirit. I believe that Jesus was God and will come again. I believe that Jesus was crucified, died, was buried, and then rose three days later. I believe that he ascended into Heaven where he resides until the second coming. I believe that he is the only messiah. I believe in saints and the power of intercessory prayer. I believe that the Catholic Church is the one true church and that its combination of tradition and the Bible are correct. Those who believe that the Catholics are wacko and dont know what they are doin, but believe in the Bible are confused about somethin.....if Catholics are wrong, the Bible is wrong. Who do u think compilled the Bible? It wasnt the Jews...thats the Old Testament. It wasnt the Protestants or Orthodox....they came later. IT WAS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

comments welcome! u may attack my beliefs as long as u are realistic! i welcome the chance to explore and further understand Protestant beliefs! One belief i hold (keep in mind that i am NOT trying to be condemning or anything) is that there is only ONE legitamate Protestant church, the Lutheran Church. Martin Luther had VERY VERY VERY good grounds for separating! (Im glad we changed or i might not be Catholic.) King Henry did NOT! All 2,997 other Protestant churches do not either. If i am wrong...PROVE IT. i welcome ur beliefs! Keep in mind, I AM NOT CONDEMNING OR TRYING TO CONVERT YOU! I also do not think that the Orthodox churches' reason for separating was reasonable either. Aryanism was wrong so when they sorted that out they should have come back to the true church. I dont hate them or anything, mind you. I hate nobody.

if thats something from the German techno song 99 Red Balloons then yes, i confess i am! :D I got this name from the cover of 99 Red Balloons performed by Goldfinger, a not-so-well-known American rock/ska band. I love Goldfinger soo when my friend suggested this sn i was like "Hey! thats pretty clever!"

does that answer ur question? back to the topic........

Say what?

I'm agnostic, BTW.

Where's the option for "I've already taken this kind of post over and over again and I am never going to read one of these threads again."? :p

Hilariously, arbitrarily, and oxy-moronically split into three, yet kept as one, in the trinity, which is clearly just a political compromise between the various Christian factions a few hundred years after Jesus died.

Anyways, I am a non-religionist.

I'm a Christian. I believe what the bible teaches and I do believe there is no perfect church. Too much hypocracy.

No kidding, there will be a perfect church the day there is a perfect human (besides jesus himself, as thats kind the whole point) and besides jesus there will be a perfect human about N E V E R. :)

I'm an atheist. I marvel at how otherwise perfectly rational people can believe in such strange things, and I'm outright stunned that believing those things without or in spite of the evidence is so widely considered a virtue and even a prerequisite for good moral character.

i'm a deist. I converted after I looked at arguments against the godchrist written by muslims, and after further looking into it islam was filled with dumb pointless rules and muhammad seemed like a hypocrite. Then i looked at the 2 religions and realized they make God sound like a 2 year old with bad tantrums and sent those who used their free-will in a way that he didn't like to eternal torment. It was then i realized the biblegod was unworthy of my worship as i surpassed him morally when i was 5. It was then deism just seemed right.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm a conservative christian. I marvel at how otherwise perfectly rational people can believe in such strange things, and I'm outright stunned that believing those things without or in spite of the evidence is so widely considered a virtue and even a prerequitsie for good scientific research and logical thought.

In addition I am shocked to see how widely spread atheism has become in intellectual circles, sadly it seems to be the lot of a large amount of so called "smart" people. Its basically summed up in th words"Thinking themselves wise, they became fools," People have tried to do the impossible and measure the universe. We could very easily be called the "mathimatical" age, we believe that the only things which truly exist must be measureable, and that the measurers are the only ones who have a true grasp on reality. How sad.

Identify the "strange things" inherent in atheism.

and I'm outright stunned that believing those things without or in spite of the evidence is so widely considered a virtue and even a prerequitsie for good scientific research and logical thought.

That doesn't work, CenturionV. You see, I'm not believing things because there is no evidence, which seems to be the exact opposite of what you are proposing. Or do you have evidence of your beliefs? And If you do, what good is faith?

An Ad Hominem and an unfair generalization. Whether or not individual atheists are foolish is irrelevant when considering the validity of atheism.

People have tried to do the impossible and measure the universe. We could very easily be called the "mathimatical" age, we believe that the only things which truly exist must be measureable, and that the measurers are the only ones who have a true grasp on reality. How sad.

Doesn't matter. Why should I believe in your god, regardless of whether or not he is "measurable" (3 inches, I'd estimate, if we go by the OT).

Why is it irrational not to believe counterintuitive claims when there is not a bit of evidence for it?

'nother athiest here.

What are you attacking, atheism, or science (or both) and what evidence are you refering too?

All people who try to measure the universe are not athiests, anyone who investigates the way the world works around them are measurung a small aspect of the universe. Are you saying that science is a foolish endevor? If so, why?
