It gets to the loading screen when i click the icon with disk one in and then it comes up with a message saying:Please insert the correct Cd-ROM,select OK and restart application.Click here for more information. Even though it reads the disk and go's to the "play, read me,quit" thing and says loading in different languages.

it seems to be to do with the crappy copy-protection - if your drive does not spin up fast enough, you get this error. I get this around 11 times out of 12 when I try to launch the game. No such problems with prior expansion or the original civ4.

I had this problem which not only affected Civ but various other games. Not being technical, I summonsed the assistance of a Geek friend who sorted it out by uninstalling the Virus Protection which is included in my TalkTalk Broadband package and installing an alternative free download anti virus pack. Now everything works perfectly! :goodjob:

I get this problem too, and oddly enough- it only just started. :S

I tried re-installing Civ: BTS, but it didn't help one iota. I tried playing other games on my computer, and they work just fine.

Help? Ideas?

I get this too. It's worked fine for a really long time, and now I can't play it. Please help someone! (BTW the disk works fine when I try it on another computer. Unfortunatelly, I can't play it on that computer.)

Just to bump an oldish thread, I'm getting the same problem as Marciv - i.e. unable to load Civ and other games.

Turns out its a Norton feature! Had been running Norton Sysytemworks 2004 and everything worked fine. Have since upgraded to Norton Antivirus 2009 and voila - unable to find CD!

I'm reluctant to permanently uninstall Norton - after all I've never had any other problems with it and I've only just paid for its 12 month subscription! So I just wondered does anybody have any solutions for getting around Norton and getting the game loaded?

Thanks

Morty
P.s. I did temporarily uninstall Norton, and guess what it all worked! However, uninstalling Norton just to play Civ seems a bit extreme!! ;-)

you should be able to just disable the norton programs - and most likely there is also a setting to allow certain programs to work without interference by norton...

Found the option to allow to exclude certain files/folders from being scanned.

And that didn't work either - never mind...I'll keep trying!
