DLL - Various Mod Components

Whoward, do you think it would be possible to make an option to not allow other civ's units to stack with yours when unit stacking mod is enabled?

On a similar note to the above, whenever I play with the 2p/3pt/upt, if I have a unit on auto-scout, it comes up with the "do you want to declare war?!" message whenever it overlaps with another civ's unit, and I'm pretty sure I can not manually move my unit to the same tile because of the message too (but I do not remember if it's been a problem, so I'm not mentioning it as a problem in this instance). It is more of an annoyance than an actual bug, but I'd thought I'd mention it in case I'm the only one who's had it or if it's a known issue that can't be fixed easily/at all.

You can actually do it. When the window to declare war appears, if you press "no" the unit will stack with the one of the other civ.

Though, I'd prefer that it wasn't possible for units of different civs to overlap, since it makes it impossible to block paths that would allow settlers from other civs to pass through :D

A small question about the DLL. I noticed when I started using them that the game no longer remembers my settings in the advanced setup (sea level, temperature, victory types, etc). What would cause that?

I downloaded the component that allows a city to work all of its tiles, but I don't think it's working properly. My game is acting as though I don't have it enabled even though I do.

Are you playing as India, or have built the Hanging Gardens? As those are the only two "things" that the micro-mod changes to expand the standard working range of cities. If you want any other variations you'll either need to write your own micro-mod, edit the sample one, or edit the CustomModOtions.xml file directly.

And to answer your other question - if you're playing with mods that add new civs and/or map scripts (or sometimes just any mod) the core game doesn't save all advanced options - it's in the .exe not the .dll code)

I'm not playing as India, but they are in the game. Would that affect it as though I was playing as them?

No, but in a previous game without India it had worked just fine, which is why I wondered if just having India in the game made a difference. So all I have to do is change the values in the XML from 3 to 5?

Edit: Changed the file and now it works just fine. I probably should have noted that India was the modded India from the India civs pack.

i tried this DLL Various Mod Components mod, and i just wonder if you have changed something on the traderoutes that gives u less gold? i only get 20 gold on a sea route but its usually over 40. is it something i can change in the files?

Nothing I've changed, so possible interaction with another mod?

I'm afraid I'm missing steps in the installation process.

1. I downloaded "Passable Forts" from here.

2. I downloaded the linked-to "Variable Mod Components" from here.

3. I followed the instructions to compile DLL's from here.

But the DLL's I compiled from step 3 came from a steam folder. The folder I downloaded in step 2 is sitting on my desktop. I'm sure I'm supposed to do something with it or else it wouldn't be required. But somehow I haven't been able to parse where I'm meant to put those files or what I have to do with them. Any help?

Thanks for the rapid reply! I do understand that is what I will to with the file I downloaded in Step 1. I'm not sure what to do with the required folders I downloaded in step 2. They are not civ5mod files? There is still something I'm not grasping, I'm sorry to say.

Step 2 is a .civ5mod file. Step 3 is only necessary if you want to edit the DLL yourself. Otherwise, just activate the DLL like any other mod.

Oh! Yeah, I see now that it is a civ5mod file. I had, instead, downloaded the folders linked to on that page. This has all been very silly of me. I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread. Thank you, Nutty.
