I rolled some starts until I found this one, which is nice. I'd settle in place.

As for the mod installation:

1. Go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/civ4bug/ and download BUG.
2. Go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/civ4bull/ and download BULL.
3. Install BUG as a MOD under your BTS root folder (Programs/Firaxis/.../BTS/Mods)
4. Extract the BULL zip and copy everything in the Assets folder to your BUG Assets folder in the BTS Mod directory.

You should then see the message in the 2nd screenie when you hover over the country flag.

@ruff: Can it be that the BULL DLL in the SVN is older than the one in the download package? For my CustomAssets version of BUG/BULL I overwrote the one from the SVN (BULL 1.0 Build 100) with the one from the download (BULL 1.1 Build 145), but now I'm missing the diplo texts...

Perhaps you've confused the scout with the settler? They look alike to me too - but wouldn't settling 1NE actually move you off of the river?

Btw, Immy, pholk has asked if he can be slotted last. He wants to play but he's out of the pocket for a bit. Nothing to do with pie floaters--just your standard run of the mill sort of nonsense.
 
Just re-reading the variant rules. I suppose we're looking at building up a pretty sizeable force, giving all kinds of stuff away until an opponent hits friendly then declaring and running over the top of them. I wonder if it's better to do one at a time or all three at once? I suppose that depends on whether they have Alphabet.

As for the arrogant demand guys, I guess that'll be easy enough... but will lead to war pretty quickly. Not sure if we'll be able to get to -15 actually... don't you lose the ability to make arrogant demands when at war?

Since the 3.19 patch you no longer need the CD to play. DRM has been removed.

Anyway, off we go!

As discussed I moved 1 SE and planted Moscow.

We got a Scout from the hut 2 turns later - which was nice because we could scout a lot this way. I didn't go for a religion but started worker first while researching AH - we have cows and pigs.

He also founds Buddhism, which makes it likely we don't have a Civ starting with Mysticism in the game.

We have prime real estate. I have used the Strategic Layer to draw a first dot map. White grabs horses, but the spot to the East could be our 2nd city - remember we are Creative and can block of the arms pretty effective that way, sealing the land for us.

man there are some really good looking city locations on that map. I love purple dot - that site will totally drive our tech in the early game. A city in the SE to pick up the pigs, clams and the Moai would make a good military pump.
 
I like yellow dot next. Which way is Gilgamesh? East of us? I'll play tonight. We need to think about the diplomacy portion of the variant rather sooner. Seems to me that religion and common wars will be the best way to get folks up to the +15.

Guys, I'm not sure I can play this... I cant get the mod to install.

I'm using Vista 64... it keeps giving me the error "Error opening file for writing", whatever the hell that means!

Any help?
