DMI XV - Gorgeous Cathy (BULL Mod)

Very little to report, except for the Mod Roulette I had to play to get this running. At one point or another, I've had all of BUG, BULL, BUFFY, and BAT installed either as custom assets or mods. 4.3 uninstalled. 4.4 installed. 4.4 uninstalled. 4.3 reinstalled.

I have so many copies of my custom assets folder, I think I'm about to hit a full hard drive issue. Sigh. 4.3, installed as a mod, run as administrator (win7) seemed to have done the trick.

Anyhow, game.

Hindu went early (in my set--rather late by most games).

Scout heals. Scout kills lion. Scout heals. Scout gets ambushed by bear. Scout heals.

Stupid scout spent most of my 15 turns healing. Probably only moved 10 squares. I gave him the double forest promo, more to heal him faster than anything.

He did meet Japan, though.

Otherwise, my only goal was to found yellow dot. (St. Petersberg) I missed the screenie, somehow.

Builds went:
Moscow: finish warrior->warrior->settler->worker->warrior
St. Pete: warrior.

Our world:

EDIT: forgot to mention that we're in slavery

Began research on the wheel.

I didn't touch the map at all.
if you didn't touch the map, how did you settle the capital?

got it - any suggestions?

Yes. Settle purple ASAP. I had settled yellow dot before finding Japan, but that red border in the screenie is Kyoto and it's awfully close.

lol

do you REALLY wanna know how?

I will not be able to get to this game until Saturday. Swap or happy to wait?

I could grab and play before then, but Pholk's up next so I'll wait for his reply....

    [*] ruff - Swappy McSwap?
    [*] pholkherina - Up?
    [*] omni_paul - On Deck?

pholk said smth about wanting to play last. So a double swap would be fine with me.

Why would he need to have fiddled with the map to settle the capital?

Why do I constantly feel like I'm an idiot in this game?

i think ruff was making a joke that how could Immy settle if he didn't touch the map, meaning the interface. i meant that usually on DMI games, Im creates a special map

but also, you may be Australian (no offense ruff)

??? are you saying that all the units will be called omni_paul? Seems a little bit silly, but ok.

six of what?

hmmm...there's a new BUG patch coming out right?? maybe we can edit this in?? type slash gaypornstar and all units will be born with porn names

Spoiler :

to avoid any namecalling that i don't know what six of one means, i do. that's teh borg that assimilated fox

edit: is there a game going on here??

OK... first succession game turnset in quite a long time! I'll try not to screw things up. Too much.

So priorities are basically to keep doing stuff. And settle purple dot if possible. Sounds simple enough.

Initial impressions are that we're somewhat hemmed in by these clowns (to the left, jokers are more to the right) until I see that the landmass seems to extend to the south as well. I might send the scout to check that out.

IBT our warriors take up lucrative side projects in the burgeoning Russian "entertainment" industry. Oh my.

Now I wasn't sure if I was supposed to play 10 or 15, so I played 10. It works out well because the next player now decides what to do with the settler. I'm really questioning the wisdom of our grey dot, what with copper available just out of its reach. More on that later.

Incidentally, I couldn't get the logger to work. Any tips? Didn't really need it for this though, it was pretty uneventful.

First thing of note: Japan founds another city, not in our direction. The squeeze won't come as quickly as we'd feared.

Second thing of note: Exploring to the south I found a hut under one square of fog, popped a scout. Awesome.

Third: Finally worked out that round things roll. Took us a while, but we got there in the end.

Started work on masonry so we can hook up that marble near Moscow and leave open the possibility of a run at Judaism.

Meanwhile during the 10 turns St Pete's finished a warrior, I queued barracks as there wasn't anything else of note to build. Moscow finished a worker, I went for warrior then settler, aided by some chops. Warrior was sent out to guard a new city site. I did spot a barb archer near Japan and there's a barb warrior just to Moscow's north (2 tiles north of our scout - beware).

Settler's finished and on the move. I've overwritten grey dot in peach (ooh, delightful) and added an alternate peach dot, seen here:

I've put the warrior on my dot. It gets copper and I think that's important. We could always fill in the gap with another city to the north and push purple 1W if need be, I'd just be reluctant to not grab copper now. But, up for discussion I guess.

Started a barracks in Moscow but there's no hammers invested, so feel free to change. Masonry'll be in in 4 and St. Pete's is about to grow so one of the workers should head over and mine that gold as they'll be in a position to work it soon.
