Well, mostly yes. But bear in mind there is a tiny difference between a succesfull space shuttle landing and Kentucky Fried Astronaut.

I wouldn't say impossible, just very, very unlikely.
 
The spores/bacteria don't need to be going at 8000 MPH to get on Earth. They can drift down just like micro meteors.
