I know what bloggs are and I hate them, why some people are so obsessed with what other peoples day was like is beyond me.

I created a blog site for the purpose of trying to write down random thoughts about Anti-Pokemon - that was way back in 2001 when I was interested in that. It didn't work out and my blog account still exists, though unused.

I got interested in blogging when I read Chris Taylors' article in TIME magazine. He said how easy it was to create one and now he could use his DailyBlah site now.

Blogging is evil.

Why is blogging evil? Is it because in order to start a blog, one must enter into a blood pact with Lucifer and start one's very own satanic cult (complete with sacrificial offerings of goats, chickens, and virgins)?

It is my understanding (itself gleaned from a blog entry) that there are three major categories of blogs:
a) personal journal/diary
b) commentary/opinion
c) link dispenser/referral

An example of each (from the blogs that I read) would be
a) MadPony
b) USS Clueless
c) Instapundit

Maybe a couple of the blogs that I read are of type a, while all the rest (>40) are about evenly split between types b & c.

Hrm.

I suppose me and the other community I'm part of should be shot then.

What's so bad about having a blog or online journal? It helps me keep up with a bunch of people I know and care about. There's idiots making them, sure, but every section of the internet has its share of jerks and spammers.

To summarize - go to www.google.com and search for "miserable failure".

You'll get George Bush's official whitehouse biography as the first hit returned.

The above link explains how it works.

XD someone posted that on a message board that I frequent. I was wondering how it happened, thanks for providing the link! :)

Cool. I thought that was a joke put into the code by someone on Google, or by the person who wrote the Bush bio.

I wonder, could we do our own? Like, if each post in a thread had the same phrase and link, would it work?

:ack:

I'm not sure - seems it's possible but you'd have to understand more about how google creates it's index. Like if we did it in multiple threads here (which would be spam by the way) they would still all be on the same set of pages - civfanatics. i think we'd have to each have our own web pages and then put the links on THOSE.
