this poll tries to determine if our ruleset is too complicated at the moment.

an example to determine wheter to vote yes or no would be:
did you know that you could be running for only one official position in the elections due to the new rules?

if yes, then you could easily vote yes for this poll also, as you would have known the rules.
if you did not know before the nominations took place and judical review was taken, then you should vote no.

poll will be up for 7 days.
options: yes, no, abstain

For those who may not feel fully comfortable with the ins and outs of Phoenatican laws, here are some good references:

The Judicial Thread - http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28613 - Our Chief Justice has added several sections involving frequently asked "How Do I Do That?" type questions.

The Judicial Log - http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26749 - Includes the consise history of all Phoenatican constitutional interpretations since the launch of our new constitution.

THe Constitution, Code of Laws, and Code of Standards is contained in a single document that is actually pretty easy to read and reference. Just point your browser to here: http://www.civfanatics.net/~demogame/constitution_of_phoenatica.htm

Finally, all of us in the Justice Department would be happy to help anyone with questions. Don't hesitate to ask.

Sounds like one of my older polls. :)

Yes, I'm pretty familiar with the rules. ;)

There is a second version of the html Constitution (Bill linked to this above) that is better formatted, easier on the eyes and includes bookmarks for every section of the CON, COL and COS. It submitted it yesterday so it should be up any time now.

The additional bookmarks will allow anybody to link to the specific section of the rules they are referencing. The bookmarks are in a common format of SECTION, DASH, ITEM. Section is "CON" for the Constitution, "COL" for the Code of Laws and "COS" for the Code of Standards. Dash is a...er...dash (minus sign, like this "-"). Item is whatever the article or section letter is. For example, the bookmark for Constitution, article A is "#CON-A". Linking directly to this article you would use:
Code:
http://www.civfanatics.net/~demogame/constitution_of_phoenatica.htm#CON-A
I've also been working (very little so far) on the Cliff's Notes (tm) version of our rules. It'll be here sometime in the not too distant future (RL permitting).

This is one of those polls (like the one I'm running about time spent on the demogame) that will always be biased one way. More people who vote and take the time to read every poll will also be familliar with the rules. We should take account of this when interpreting the results.

so all those 12 ppl knew beforehand that the run-only-for-1-position rule was in there? and why did nobody comment before the disasterous last nomination phase was up? (and finally: why did only 4 discuss all the topics in there).
as i see it, i cant believe this result ;-)
i think most ppl THINK they know all the rules, but the truth seems to be something else :-P

I think this poll wasn't broad enough. ;)

Include something like "some of the laws", and you might get more for that option. I thought I understood almost everything (so I selected 'yes'). Mine would actually be some of most of the laws. It's kind of hard to absorb all 20 pages of the constitution within a few days.

I admit: Should have done that one better ;-)
Just wanted to get a base on arguing for a simplification of rules. I think i will put it up again next term ;-)
