Do you play Civilization?

Do you still play Civilization?

I do on occasion but not as much as I used to play the Civilization games. I played Civ 2 to death from 1998 to 2002 solely for how relatively easy it was to make my own scenarios. I was so happy to have been able to make my own scenario graphics on the Mac without color table errors splattering all over the game screen! And I would churn out Civ 2 scenarios as fast as budget game studios would churn out mediocre releases. :D But Civ 3 was very hard for me to edit. Civ 4 isn't much different in terms of editing difficulties but it's worse as I don't have much knowledge in making 3D units.

I play AC semi-regularly. And every now and then, i fire up a game of Civ2. I really like the scenarios for it.

Agree with you there Till, I don't think I've seen any Civ game come close to the scenarios of Civ2. Red Front and Dominion War being my personal favourites...I still have Civ2 installed on my computer for the sole reason I may want to play them. I haven't in about two years, but I'll be damned if I remove it :)

I've never tried either of the two. Will see if i can find them! I usually play scenarios set in the ancient world. Sons of Heracles and Imperium Romanum are among the best that i've played.

Dominion Wars is a Star Trek mod by Kobayashi set during, well, DS9's Dominon War :p . Red Front is about the Russian Front during the Second World War, and really forced you on the defensive during the first half of the scenario. Both very well made mods.

Imperium Romanum I remember playing and liking, I'll look out the Sons of Heracles one :D

CivIV regularly.

I only play MP though, with a couple friends of mine. My buddy and I have a series dating back to CivII multiplayer gold edition.

Can you talk to your friends faster online than, oh, let's say, speaking to them in person? There's no comparison between internet chatting and face-to-face interaction with a human...

i'm at school 7 hours a day! my parents don't like me hanging out with people a lot. they think i'll get into trouble. i can talk to more people online in an amount of time online, because i can have a lot of conversations at once. also, a lot of the people i talk to online are away at college or are somewhere damn far away so i can't see them in person anway.
webcam/mic is kinda close tho.

At least a couple of hours of Civ3 or Civ4 just about every day.

Civilisation is by far the best game ever! I have given every other computer games since civ3 came out. And the community mods in here make it that the game never gets boring.

Occasional Civ3 Gold, Civ2 MGE a little more often. Used to have teh AC demo, wish I had the game. CPU can't run Civ4.

I really don't see why everyone luvs CIV III so damn much. In my opinion it was THE shittiest game of the series, by far.

Hanging around in internet fora is rather antisocial if you ask me.

 That's like saying writing letters or make a telephonecall is anti-social. People hanging around in internet fora often have poor social skills but that's something else. The fact that they hang around in internet fora indicates that they want to be social, its still a social activity.

Yeah, I play quite a bit, periodically. I.e. I will play almost daily for a month or six, then do other stuff for a month or six, then come back. This has been my repeating pattern for all versions of the game since Civ 1; Civ 4 with various mods is my usual poison these days.
