Do you speak with a heavy accent?

just the hint of the aussie accent, tho of course i can really turn it on if i want. i have been told that i've "inherited" some kind of pronunciation thing from my parents who have english accents.

and please don't insult me by saying that the aussie and kiwi accents sound the same. it's like saying the english and irish accents sound the same.

I can fake a Minnesotan, Vermont and PA redneck one pretty well. I probably do have a Northeast yank accent.

Americans tell me I have a slight Eastern European accent in English. All the others think I have am American.

I love hearing and talking to people with different English accents. Among my conversational English teachers I had an Australian, 3 Americans, a Brit and a Scot. I can trace approximately every accent but I think Indian English is the most difficult to understand. I never thought so but there is a Romanian English accent, which I have heard so often among my fellows that I came to hate.

I have traveled in different English speaking countries and always managed to understand what the taxi driver and the shopkeeper were saying. The Glasgow shopkeepers had a lot of problems when I was asking for a Coke and finally I had to ask for a Cock as embarrassing as it seemed to me.

I love to use some un-common words like reckon.
Another nice thing is that Americans that learn Romanian end up with an Eastern Moldavian accent, which is actually very funny because most shopkeepers and taxi drivers look down to you when they hear the Eastern accent when they would normally look up to Americans.

I wouldn't suggest such a thing - we've come up with pronunciation of at least three words that differ - 'fush', 'chups', and 'sex'.

It kinda sounds like a speeded up scottish accent that drifts upwards towards the end of sentences or words.

Completely incomprehensible to anybody outside this part of the country. Everywere I travel, I'm being told to slow down.
This includes England and Americia.

Quite. One speaks the antipodean equivalent of the Queen's English, with appropriate class accent.

I always thought I only spoke with a slight accent, but then Matrix came here once and told me it's a bit heavy Amsterdam accent. I think he's someone without an accent, I couldn't hear anything that reminded me of the northern provinces. His father then again, is from Amsterdam, so that could explain something.
So in Dutch I do have quite an accent I guess: Amsterdam

In German I'm sure I have an accent/dialect: Schwaebisch. It's spoken in South-West Germany, Stuttgart and more south, and a part of Bavaria. My aunt is really bad into it, if she speaks you wouldn't think it was German Anyway, I like the sound of it. I think it has some French influences.

I speak with a "Copenhagen accent". It is kind of the urban branch of the Danish language.

but in my own language (spanish) I do have the "regios" accent which sound to loud.

if you say "oh well, yes"
the correct way is : Ah, pues si
you say here :aaaaaah, Pposs si

or shorting the words like

lado = la'o
pelado = pela'o

My German is clean Hochdeutsch - no accents there. Since I meet very few native German speakers, their accents don't influence my speech.

Since I didn't speak a word of Finnish until moving here twenty years ago, I still have a slight German accent when speaking Finnish. Especially the r gives me away. However, due to me being absolutely fluent in Finnish tricks most people into believing
I'm a natural born Finn. Only about 1 out of 10 notices anything.

My English is also very accent-free, on a good day I have managed to pass as a native English speaker. When I'm heavily drunk (so my friends tell me) I start to speak with ze heavy German accent.

My Swedish is the Finnish-Swedish, more wooden and not as melodic as 'riksvensk' ('Reich-Swedish' ). That's the Swedish that's being taught in Finnish schools, and spoken by the Swedish-speaking minority here.

My Spanish is a horrible mess, but with a little bit of goodwill people manage to understand me.
