I think he most likely cheated because the powerGraph is very irregular... take a look.

Don't have civ2 on this platform, so I can't view his powergraph, but such score would be readily obtainable at lover levels, if you use an oversized or edited map. At chieftain level I have achieved over 12,000 points using a map generated by the game, large/wet/temperate/max land/archipelago. If there is a sudden spurt in his power, this is typical of run up the score games in civ2 & smac, where to ease management you found and expand cities/bases in standardized bursts. This is easier to do in smac with the queues, and since by that point you have all the technology and are using only fungus as rescource.

Instant Empire!!!, at king level (my current game) it took me until 1700s to reach that point. Then he goes back down to zero and back up again. A display of evil sorcery if I ever saw one.

I've seen powergraphs like this one before when I was experimenting with some cheat flag removal programs (yes, the programs do exist). A classic case if I ever saw one...and I did...

May I suggest putting the new Civ III Panzer Tank into action...

Generally, an irregular power graph without cheating would have all tribes fall and not the "dips" so this is a cheat more than likely.

To be fair, he did say that he created this map ...

I've also noted something similar in a powergraph - nothing like the start - tha's very suspicious, but I've had a powergraphs drop suddenly to bottom, then back to top. I think it happened when I hit what seems to be max population (320 000 000) in Civ original. (( "We love the Emperor" on 160+ cities on democracry was scary. I went from about 230 mil to 320 mil in +- 15 years or so - could have been 20 ... ))

But how he starts so high, and then get of the graph in about 100 years ?? Dubious at best !

I personally never edit the rules.txt ( don't realy know how to - sheepish grin), so I would say that this also is "cheating" - although it counts for everyone, I guess. But numbers like Prod, Gold, Food, City Size, Score etc. can't be counted ... imho
