Does anyone else remember …?

Awful, a person too lazy to open a can doesn't deserve what's inside, I think those went out of fashion because now most cans have a pop top

I use a manual can opener. Pop tops have come and gone for some types and brands. It's annoying that some brands of soup and chili don't have them anymore (therefore, my need for a can opener). If the federal environment minister here has his way, they'd all be gone, since some people like to remove them from the cans and either play with them or throw them away. Some people collect them and throw them away later.

I remember when tamagotchi's were big

Those and gigapets. Electronic devices were barred from the classroom back then, so we'd keep them in our lockers.

Gotta catch 'em all.

It's a joke! I'm not that out of touch.

My first computer!

I named my computer George and my printer Gracie.

A lot of term papers were typed on it, as were a lot of SCA newsletters, gaming sheets, and even some music composition.

Along with Civ I, and the first Sim City, plus numerous other games... :)

Today I learned George and Gracie has an origin that isn't the two robotic voices of our mass transit system here.

They go back to radio days at least and maybe even vaudville. "Say goodnight Gracie..."

Of course I named my computer and printer after the whales, not George Burns and Gracie Allen. :p

I'm currently using a tablet as an mp3 player and I've been looking to get something more portable. The last time I checked for dedicated mp3 players I found them far too expensive, more expensive than buying a smartphone. I used to have a dedicated mp3 player until the battery died. I did think about trying to get a sim free phone to use as an mp3 player.
Got one on Amazon for $80, basically like a smart phone

A recent article reminded me of a time when American capitalism was hilarious.

Amphibia is a cologne for man, woman and frog
Calvin Klein's CK One was the first scent to be openly marketed as unisex, but in 1995, Bloomingdale's was the exclusive purveyor of Amphibia, an eau de toilette pour homme, femme et frog. It's fantastic. I was not at all prepared for Kermit's six-pack abs and the tiny towel makes me vaguely uncomfortable. The fake diacritical marks are perfection.

The New York Times wrote:

Who wants to smell like a frog? Thousands, apparently. Amphibia was a top-selling fragrance over the holidays at Bloomingdale's Manhattan store, where its backers are testing the waters. It will remain there through next week. "Kids are buying it, grown-ups are buying it, and frogs are really hot," said Max Al-menas, a pitchman armed with bottles of the $18.50 scent ($32.50 in a gift box with a Kermit T-shirt) just inside the store. "I wish I had a dollar for every frog story I've heard."

The Smithsonian National Museum of American History has a bottle in its collection, complete
with the original box and t-shirt, although it is sadly not currently on display.

Blackberries--were all the rage at one point.

Fin tails on cars. We now (probably sensibly) have to make everything rounded.

Whole makes of cars: the Pacer, the Geo, the Chevette, the Gremlin.
