Does CivComplete need the Conquests & PTW patches?

I just downloaded CivComplete (the latest addition that includes both expansion paks). I am wondering if I also need to download the patches for Conquests and PTW or whether that would be redundant.

Anybody have a thought on this?

Thanks,
Jim

Civ3 Complete should be fully patched when you buy it, so no patching is necessary. :)

(Downloaded Civ3 Complete? Is it available on Trygames, or somewhere similar? (I haven't looked.) Also, if you buy the downloaded versions of the games, patching will force it to look for a CD, which you don't have....)

and linked to it from the gamespot trails section (click on "purchase"): http://dlx.gamespot.com/search/search_files.html?filtertype=70

They have 204 games for downloading there, including some really great ones (not just solitaire like many other sites).

Thanks very much for the tip on the patches.

I am in Mexico for a few months and didn't bring any games because I wanted to concentrate on work - but now that I have a few weeks off, I was craving for Civ and after a lot of searching I found a downloadable version. I left it downloading for most of the day and am about to load it right now - I hope it works!

Can you forsee any other situation beyond patches, in which it would be necessary to have a CD? Do you think it would be possible to burn the game files to a CD and essentially "create" a game CD or are the CDs digitally signed such that a burnt CD from my file would not be recognized?

Thanks again,
Jim

This has come up before for other downloadable-for-purchase versions of Civ. Should Civ3 get another patch (which is doubtful) then you'll need to contact the people you bought the game from and get the patch from them. They need to modify the program to allow you to patch it. You can't just d/l the patch from the 'net and apply it, as it will screw your game up. If there's another way to do it, it would be the people who sold you the game that did it.
