With the discussion on Canada, I'm pretty curious if the AIs are able to declare formal wars or something more interesting.
Since the last patch, I've been dragged into wars only via alliances. My ally getting war declared on them by a third power. Prior to that, it would only happen very rarely and it would usually happen after a denunciation.
Your title (Vote for me or die) reminds me I better go vote today.
I can categorically say that I've never had a proper CB used against me. I don't remember having a formal war declared against me, although it's possibly that it has very rarely and I've just forgotten. Almost always or always have had surprise wars, pretty sure it's always been ancient or at the latest classical. I'm not sure if that's specific to the code or if it's just that my military usually starts getting stronger by then and just deterring the AI - I tend to neglect it in the ancient era and only get stuff towards towards end of the classical.Surprise wars in the early eras. It's rare enough for me to get declared on in the later game that I don't remember what CB they typically use (if any).
Which is a huge part for me why the lategame often feels so boring. Nothing dramatic tends to happen, and if someone does declare a war, they never manage to accomplish anything.
I was wondering about that too. I dont know if they count because they don't require a denouncement. Still, they are essentially liberation wars.Missing from the poll: as a result of a military emergency. Usually stupid - "<your civ> has captured <some city>. We must resist their aggression!" But then the aggrieved party has been reduced to a feeble state and will be wiped out in the coming war.
