Domination prevented by new civ spawn

Hi,

(In Beyond the Sword 3.13)

I was about to complete a domination victory when all of my cities on a conquered continent spawned a new civ.

It declared war and then capitulated all automatically (without any intervention by me) so I couldn't simply recapture all the cities on the continent (trivial) and lost 15% of the land and even more population.

Is this a "feature" or a bug and what if anything can one do about it.

Cheers,

Jon

the game probably prompted you to liberate them as a colony and you clicked yeah whatever without reading the popup - so that is a feature.
The war declaration is a bug in 3.13 and you might want to consider installing Bhruic's Unofficial Patch for 3.13 to fix that.

Yes I thought that must have happened so reloaded and tried again being more careful with the pop-ups. I'm pretty sure it didn't but "auto-colonised".
This happened after I ended the turn before I got control at the start of the next one.

Thank for pointing me in the direction of his patch which I had in fact of though not yet installed.

if it really auto-liberated it would be good if you could post a save so that one can reproduce it - maybe this is something that can be fixed.

No it didn't. Sorry!

I played through the sequence again and indeed there was a pop-up which told me that a city was costing lots of gold and helpfully suggested that I liberate all the cities on the continent - about 18 of them I think (normally I believe it instead suggests I build a courthouse).

I'd presumed that to do so I had to take an action which would be confirmed but you're quite right that it didn't - just a single harmless line of print.

Perhaps they could at least add a health warning to this v helpful suggestion.

Many thanks for pointing me in the right diorection. I was baffrled and outraged after the ridiculous amount of effort required in the preceding.

(btw the first time it had already decided that I'd won my domination victory so the cities were liberated but the doimnination stood: the second time I tried again from a save I faield to take one last city and so it diodn't).

Cheers,

Jon
