I was thinking of these little labels we're wont to throw around at anyone vaguely techy, bookish, shy, or intellectual these days. They started as insults, but have been coopted and are as often used for self-identification these days. So, let's see how dorko-geeko-nerdish OTers deem themselves ...
 
I used to call myself a geek, but I now obligate myself to higher standards.
 
I am a Geek/Nerd.

I have extremely fun discussions about black holes, quantum mechanics, gravitons, etc. in gym class. For 25 whole minutes...

The definitions I've come to know for the three:

Nerd - Highly intelligent, but socially awkward and physically unfit. Ex - That guy who can rattle off the first 50 digits of Pi and e from memory, while alternating between them, is a nerd.

Geek - Obsessive over some normally trivial aspect of their lives. Ex - A hardcore Trekkie is a geek.

Dork - Honestly, these people just plain suck. Devoid of social skill or intellect, should be isolated and culled from the gene pool. Ex - A fair number of OT residents.
 
I'm neither. And I think their should be a name for an inteligent, yet outgoing, social, attractive, confident person. If you do "nerdy" things that doesn't necessarily make you so.
 
Oops. I guess I should have voted Dork as well.

I basically have zero social skill.
 
You are only a dork if you think like one. Our society places a high value on those who are socially powerful and not intellectually powerful. If you let yourself fall into the stigma and stereotype you will only assume you cannot be both, but of course you can.

The valedictorian of our class is very socially powerful here. I know what you mean.
 
None of the above, although one of my professors called my the entire lecture hall nerds a week or to ago...

A poseur or poser is a person who adopts the dress, speech, and/or mannerisms of a particular group or subculture, generally for attaining acceptability within the group. A poseur may not share or understand underpinnings of the group he or she is trying to identify with. Some subcultures may view what they regard as poseurs with varying degrees of mistrust and scorn.

edit - i voted for geek, thought i'm not sure i'm one really. do i qualify as a geek if i keep my lego around, even some still in their blister. I also have an unopened collector edition of Oblivion and hm i can think of more but then i'll most likely have to admit that yes i'm a nerd.

My wife says I'm a dork. Since she's always right about where my keys and wallet are, and always right about my clothe sizes I'd have to go with her on this.
