ok the expanding city,

4rd tile is only available on the last culture level, and 3 is available only at the one previous to the last.

i left 2 tiles for most culture levels so cities will take time to get 3-4 tiles, and not on mid/start game.

if you wanna make sure it works - just get into the world builder, edit the city - give the city 99999999 culture - and you'll see that 4 tiles are possible.

if you like to change the settings, just go to civ4culturelevels.xml under xml\gameinfo
and change the lines that says city radius.

Okay. I get it now. I think I'm going to go back to fledgling having radius 2. Just to speed the game up some.

K. The other thing I wanna say is: Why have you made mountains passable ????? I really just don't get that. My chariot did for an axeman (yeh I know they have a bonus against axemen) but in a mountain attack ? I vote that you either revert to vanilla rules OR make the mountain thing much more sophisticated e.g.

- possible damage for ANY unit trying to enter, or at least the possibility of losing all movement points and failure to enter
- but major problem for wheeled units, damage or possibly destruction for wheeled vehicles trying to enter
- major def bonus for foot units,
- long time for workers to build roads etc; or maybe only specially trained workers able to build roads etc

Hey Keldath,
First off, just gotta say, love the game mate, it is brilliant, but unfortunately im having some slight difficulty.
For some reason i don't seem to be able to play the game for more than half an hour without it crashing to the desktop.
Im using windows vista, with an nvidia 9800gtx card, and my drivers are up to date.
I have a bad feeling that it may be something to do with my install, i couldn't find install instructions anywhere so just copied and pasted files around till it started working.
Can i possibly suggest an install guide in the next zip file?
Even with the random crashes to desktop i cant stop playing it, i loved civ4, and wasn't aware there were mods for it lol, so finding this has been fantastic, i just make sure i save frequently :).
Even if you don't want to put an install guide in, could you quickly explain the process to me so i can make sure Ive installed it properly.
Thanks mate, and congrats on possible the best mod ive seen, ive checked out a decent few since i found this site, and the only other one that is on the same level as yours is that Fall from heavan 2, so well done on making a balanced and extremely playable game

if you like, i will remove this just for you so youll be able to play like vanilla.

hi, and welcome to civfanatics,

glad you like the mod, but im sorry to hear your having problems.

to install, its pretty easy - just dl the latest file - overlord2.2-ready, which you got,
then copy this file under your beyond the sword\mods

there you only need to extract the file , and load the mod.

i sorry to say, that for some reason vista users sometimes have problems with the mod,
theres a lot of suggestions on how to solve this, im not sure how though - maybe you can try to ask in the revolutiondcm thread or bug thread - cause the main mod files are based on them - im sure they have a solution.

im hoping youll be able to work this out! wish i knew how to help.
 
Sorry it took so long. I played another game, and I saved every turn. I have them all, but I don't know which ones or how many you need. Also, I can provide the options if you'd like. I really want to play it...
 
Hey all long time Civ player but first time with the overlord mod, I have played 2 games even though I lost them both and am having alot of fun with it. Great MOD all around Keldath, couple of quick questions.

1. On the Civ Score Screen bottom right corner between the happy/sad face and the city number is sometimes there is the shoulders up of a man, what does this mean? (I think if I remember correctly it has something to do with espionage points but been playing FFH for a while now so can't remember.

2. After my Civ dies I have the choice of picking anthor civ or saying none and if I say none I restart with a settler and a lion. How does this work? is it only in certain eras then you cannot restart, can you choose any civ up to a certain amount of points, can you just end the game and get the loser screen?

If someone could explain these two concepts to me it would be appreciated.

Great looking mod.

Unfortunately, the game crashes after a few turns (playing a scenario). I guess this is not working yet as stated in the description of the mod.

Is there an earth map available for this mod?

hi and welcome,

plz do not play scenarios,
play normal maps like archipelago, continents and so on, i havent adapted the mod to scenarions and some of the other maps.

both quastions you ask are things that are a part of revolutiondcm and the bug mod - they both have their own forums and thred and you can get all the info there, or in the docs folder - theres a lot of readme's there.

Era: Ancient
Speed: FX-Casual(500)
World Wrap: Cylindrical

No options except the mods are selected.

I'm only conquest and domination.

7 players, all random. Settler.

Also, like I said before, it doesn't seem to make any difference what settings there are. The only thing I can remember that was the same on all crashes was the settler difficulty level.
 
@Keldath,

In the "A New Dawn" Modmod for Rise of Mankind Afforess has included the ability to have open borders as we know it, but it also has embassies and right of passage agreements, wherein you can allow another nation's non-combat units access to your country but not their combat units (he calls it "Advanced Diplomacy"). I really, really like this addition. Is this something that is possible to do with Overlord, and is it something you might include in the near future?

i played few games , on several difficulties and noticed following:

1.most important : aluminium is NOT generated on maps (hub) , unless you get a geologist or AL co , you wont ever have it.
2.several other resources are so rare they barely exist : wheat, corn , potatoes,cow,gold .
cant remember having them in any game , unless they appeared on farms on later times.
3.although you have few more corporations , they cant be made during game , only the classic ones.
4.mercenaries , they are too cheap , AI spams them like crazy(and AI buys every kind of merc , archers and melee even in future age)
5. sometimes , multiple barbarian tribes appear and wipe out every civ with overwhelming numbers of tanks and anti-tanks.(tho , if you survive till they establish as a civ themselves, they are decent enough)
6. dunno if you intended , but settlers are very expensive to build.

the barbs - you probably chose to play with barbarian world and barbarian civ - those are from revdcm and are indeed difficult.

i would love to get more feed from you.



by the way - what maps did you play?
 
I do get cows, wheat, corn, gold resources, unlike mentioned above. Potatoes seem to be less frequent, but still I played a game where it was in my starting location..:-).

However, I am playing a standard continents map now, but still get ctd after round 135 or so.

What I observe is that I am the only one founding religions. In normal Civ, on monarch level, I usually fail to found any religion because the AI runs for it. Probably because you have to invest 1 round into building and the AI doesn't seem to do that.

Will try a customized game, with continents map now. Hope to not have a ctd again...
... no luck, after turn 120 or so, the game crashes (customized continents game, monarch level)

hello again

just finished playing another game ,
i personally prefer hub maps , since they allow you to defend a single path towards your home cities (land wise)
also i use win XP sp2 and have a 256MB ram video card

2 more things i noticed :
-assault mech (the classic ones) are buged , not in their function but their graphics and effects on the game overall
( their image tend to "stick" to airplanes , subs , other big units ,making the game very slow as they rotate endlessly around cities along with intercepting planes , also any stack that has an AM in it will disappear from view , tho you can still use it if you remember where you left it , and click on the "empty " land plot)

i think you could use another skin for them , [BTS extended ]has a much more friendly mech skin , which is smaller and doesnt cause graphic problems , or you could be creative and make them a skin :D

walkers would be great , but dont have blitz .. nor can they get it.
would like 3 dreads per civ tho , since late cities have huge % of defence.

-also , arcologies with advanced shields will cause huge CPU slowdowns , perhaps you could just use the normal non-rotating shields , its the effect that matters.

maybe you could adapt few scenarios for your mod ,
machine guns should have bonus vs melee and mounted (historically)
Amechs shouldnt get defensive bonuses (as they are too tall to hide in the bushes)

@keldath: This is the problem with the default mech, when the animations are turned off.
