Double Your Pleasure - Mod under Construction

this is the units sheet. It is not finished (edit: it is finished), as I said the info for the A/D/M and bombardment is not there yet. (edit: it is there now) but it can be used to at least put the units into the game, then all that has to be done is fill in the remaing info when that is available. (edit: the info is available)

I have removed the unfinished units sheet and replaced it with a finished sheet below.

I'm taking a look at your stuff now. I'll let you know if I think of anything.

If you wanna see what I work out from the techboxes file I made, go here. Click on the link in the news. That is a snapshot of my new science advisor screen. I imagine you are working on something similar. Keep in mind the units have not all been made. And it is based on the Med Mod 2 tech tree. If you have any suggestions please share.

I just finished the first era and am quite proud and excited. Now if only I can get people to check it out. :)

I will definitely check out what you have put together.

What is this Med Mod 2 that you speak about?

I am having trouble linking over to your site.:(

edit: never mind I am there now.:)

I really like what you are doing. I completely forgot about "Trade" But of course that should be in there. I must say you have done a much better job so far on your tree.

And I like your choice of Icon. I originally chose the alphabet but I think I am going to go with the wheel.

Here is what I have so far. I don't have any of the units or building in place yet so things will look a bit different, and i will be adding trade in as an additional tech - allowing trade with other civs, what else.

the lines are from opening the game as a scenario. It is a nice feature of the game that it automatically connects things. the problem is I want to be able to play this on different user created maps, therefore it has to the default rules bic. (I think, please somebody correct me if I am wrong)

I believe you are right. BTW, Med Mod 2 is a mod for Call to Power 2 made by WesW. It is an excellent mod. And when I started working on the Balancer with Monkspider I asked Wesw if it would one day be feasible, would I be able to model my mod after his CTP 2 one. Well, he was in agreeance since he wasn't interested in modding Civ3 at the time. So I started it up. I asked again recently since time has paste, but haven't heard anything.

I like what you've done so far. You have a lot of techs in there so far. How far (time-wise) are you bringing your mod? I am trying to follow a futuristic level. So the first Era is now Ancient thru Classical, 2nd is Medieval thru Renaissance, 3rd is Industrial thru Modern, and the last Era is Information thru Genetic. One thing I missed about CTP was the futuristic techs.

One tip, the science advisor will not show an icon for a government gained. The only way for a user to know in game would be to include the Gov't name in the Tech Title. At least so far.

Also what plans for new units. Nothing says we can't work together where our mods are similar, right?

I am just going to go a little into this 21st century. The most advanced unit I am adding is Blue-O's power armor and that will be available with the last tech before future techs.

re govt gained: I am using one icon for all techs in an era except for techs that give governments. you can see an example above. all techs save monarchy republic and democracy use the alphabet icon, but those three have there own icons.

as for new units:
Added/Modified Units: 31 new

Modern Era:

I have no problem working together. How else are we going to get answers to our questions? Keep up the good work.

We seem to be shooting for similar units.
Although, I believe I am going to suspend work on 3.0 until the ability to add new ages comes out. There is plenty to do with 2.01. Either that or I will just do work on the first four ages I was planning on. It is too crammed as it is now, and I want to go into the future.

Also if you need any help with anything, I'd be glad to try and help out.

One thing, do you have animations for all of those units? I mean distinctive ones?

re the animations:

not for all but, but I posted bmps that just need to be put together by some flicster proficient person out there for:

Elephant Rider
Elephant Archer
Chariot Archer

I am going to add in Krytens new Horse Archer

the spy = s3d's assassin unit - I would love for someone to go in and change his sword into a downward dagger.
Barbarian Warrior = Gregorio is working on this - if he doesn't put a sword in the guy's had though and change the war paint to civ specific colors I will probably end up doing this one myself.
Barbarian Rider = chinese rider but need someone to put some horns or antlers on his head
Coracle = canoe by Dark Sheer
Trireme = simple conversion for someone to add ramming prow to galley
Longship = I got nothing for this but I could grab some images of the CTP unit if someone would be willing to put it together

Longsordsmen = bjorn's unit - soon to be completed
Crusader = I can post some ToT unit bmps if someone will convert to unit flic
Fanatic = I got nothing here
Musketmen = animepornstar's unit when its done
Corvette = simple conversion from privateer, just need someone to remove the skull and crossbones from the sails
Brig = Caravel, don't know what else to do to distinguish this one

Laborer = MODERN WORKER
Troop Transport = Dark Sheer's truck
Cavalry = Dark Sheer's Bandit
Partisan = don't know - originally there was a terrorist unit that was a conversion of the modern worker unit - I guess that would work if I could find a copy of it - anybody out there who can post that unit please
Land Mine = pesoloco's unit
Naval Mine = pesoloco is working on this
Secret Agent = will probably use the black special ops unit by MasterJo
Airbase = CTP airbase = no animation needed
Radar Station = CTP radar station
Engineer = pesoloco's unit

SpecialOps – Green Berets/Navy SEALS/SAS, etc. = Mork's Green Paratrooper
HumVee = Dark Sheer is working on this
Apache Gunship = Bonedoc's new unit
Grunt = zyxwyvu's sniper
Rocket armor = zyxwyvu's rocket armor
APC = need a conversion from the mech infantry unit. remove the big cannon off the top and replace with a smaller hvy machine gun
PPS-15 Radar = pesoloco's unit
Penguin Anti-Ship Missile = pesoloco's unit
Mobile Infantry (Power Armor) = Blue-O's unit

So, I have been working on the unit’s stats for the mod and I gave bombardment to all missile attack units. I am not sure how the ratings for bombard work though and was hoping to get some feedback. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

Yeah. I just like the Victorian terminology: airships, ironclads, horseless carriages, and the like.

Hey, here's what I was thinking for some civ-specific wonders:

Iroquois The Confederation Wampum
America The Statue of Liberty (or the Liberty Bell)
England Stonehenge
France The Eiffel Tower
Zulu The Granery at Zimbabwe
Aztec The Sun Stone
Russia The Communist Manifesto (I know, it's German....)
Germany The Blitzkrieg
India Gandhi's Spinning Wheel (or Asoka's Pillar)
China The Grand Canal (or The Little Red Book)
Japan Bushido
Rome The Appian Way
Greece The Parthenon
Egypt The Pharos at Alexandria? The Pyramids of Khufu?
Babylon The Hanging Gardens
Persia whatever that place was where the Hashashim hung out

Just an idea...

The Zulu didn't build the Great Zimbabwe, the Shona did, but the Shona aren't in Civ3 and so I guess it would work. I'm surprised someone else knew about it enough to suggest it (I visited it when my cousins were living in Africa several years ago, they moved back to America after my family visited). The Zulu and the Shona belong to an ethnic and linguitic group called Bantu, but they aren't the same.

Dear Kal-el,
Today was the first day I came across your thread here.
You have my permission to use any of my units. As for the sea mine, I'm already on it. I've just been kinda busy work on some other units - one of which is a blimp, which I see you may want for your mod. I will post it here and you can see what you think.

Also, I discovered a way to make your own wonder graphics appear in city view. I have posted some wonder pictures there that you are free to use. For one of them (The Spirit of St. Louis, I got the idea from you (I gave you credit) and made a picture for it.) See it here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=225831&t=2015#post225831

The blimp unit is available here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18604

You have some very good ideas here and I wish you luck.
That's a lot for one person to do. Anything you may need, don't hesitate to ask.

well, its almost ready for beta testing. I have everything input into the bic file, except for the industrial and modern tech x and y coordinates, and the pediaicons.txt file. all that’s left before it is ready for play testing is the buildings-large and the buildings-small. The civilopedia entries are, for the most part, ready to be inserted but I have yet to do so. I haven’t created script.txt entries for them yet.

Other than that, all I need are a few more unit graphics:
Chariot archer,
elephant archer,
elephant rider,
longship,
longswordsman,
crusader,
musketman,
fanatic, (someone please convert the immortal - where it is civ specific color now should be white and his pants should be all white, and his tunic and turban should be civ specific color)
corvette (someone please remove the skull and crossbones from the privateer),
partisan,
naval mine,
radar station,
apc,
humvee,
barbarian rider,
barbarian warrior (warrior with sword).)

I want to get this out within the next two weeks, because, after that I will be writing papers, studying for finals, and then studying for the bar. So I won’t have any free time until August. Yikes!!! I am not saying I expect the unit graphics to be done within the next two weeks, just that I am trying to get a beta version of this out within the next two weeks. Thankfully my younger brother is staying with me for the next week and I will be able to have him do some play testing while I am at work.
:D

Your new monarchy is called Devine Right.
Are you sure this wasnt meant to be Bovine (Cow) Right?
Seriously though, its called Divine Right.
I didnt see this in any posts, if its already picked up, sorry... :o

Yeah, Leprechaun, I know you're right. It's just kind of a hassle to have to explain all that at times, as I'm sure you know....

In a similar vein, the Germans for most of their history compromised several different Germanic peoples, with three different languages and all, but it is convenient to call them German.

Also, if anyone out there speaks any of the languages of the civs in the game, I'd like the correct spellings of the cities and so forth; for example, I changed Germany to Deutchland. With my Maya cities (instead of the Aztecs), I use the modern orthography of the ancient names. I'd especially appreciate help with the Chinese, "Zulu" ;), and Hindi stuff!
