Double Your Pleasure - Mod under Construction

APC versions

Here are pics of all 3 'versions'. The one on the left has a Marine sticking out, had to shrink him but he's there :) . Is this what you had in mind for the APC? If not, suggestions are more than welcome, provided you keep working your @$$ off on that mod!

btw, how do I delete a totally unusefull post like my last one?

J-S,

that is exactly what i am looking for. I especially like the one witht he marine. that way when it attacks you can show him firing the 50 cal. Although it is not completely acurate, it might look better if the marine were a bit bigger. It would give the user a better idea of what is going on. JMO.

I am posting a beta of the mod as soon as i finish writing this.

re: removing a post, the only way to delete a post is to contact a moderator and ask them to take it off for you.

thanks for taking up this task.

CAN I BETA TEST? Looking like a great mod!

:D New APC unit!!!
Yep, it took me more than I thought but I finally finished the graphics for the APC, with the Marine on top like you wanted Kal-el. And scince I couldn't decide on wich to do, I made 2 death flics: one where it explodes sorta like the Mech-Inf, and another one where I used the Marine's normal death flic and 'pasted' it on top... looks kinda nice, say I :) . Oh, no run flic though, but I don't think it's that necessary on a tank (unless you wanna go through the tedious trouble of making it's wheels actually turn! ).

Anyway, here it is... I'll post a preview later.

Just downloaded it!!! It's beautiful!!! Perfect!!! Thankyou!!!

In case you haven't seen it yet, the mod is available in the completed mods forum. I will have to make some adjustments to the unit ini file to accomodate for the new APC. So glad that we don't have to double up on the mech infabtry anymore.:D :goodjob:

thanks again!

A link to the mod is in my signature below.

Kal-el... just downloaded the mod. :goodjob: I still haven't passed the ancient era tho coz I'm lacking time right now but I checked out the improvement/wonder pcx and they're GREAT!! Plus from what I've read in the Readme there are tons of new improvements.
Keep up the good work!

I don't know if this has been explained before but how can you add new buildings with new icon, city view, etc pics? And is there a way to make ancient improvements obsolete (like a slave market)? Thanks!

Also, thx for posting the gif preview of the APC :D .

“how can you add new buildings with new icon, city view, etc pics?”

In order to add new buildings to the game itself you just alt+A in the editor and go to town. To get the images to show up in the game is another thing all together. For the civilopedia icon images you need to go into Civilization III\Art\Civilopedia\Buildings folder and find the blank large and the blank small pcx files. Use these as the bases for all you new images. Of course you then have to edit the pediaicons file to correspond with your new building images, watch out for typos, that is where most of the crashes I have run into originate from.

For the build queue you need to edit two pcx files buildings-Large and buildings-small located in the Civilization III\Art\\City Screen. You will need to add some additional blank squares to the bottom. This can be a very tedious process. Especially since you basically have to do everything twice.

Your new images need to be put in the same order that they are in the .bic file.

This is why I need the Gramphos’ Multi-tool to be able to rearrange improvements I want to get all the improvements separated by category and then alphabetized in each category to make it easier for people to find the things that they want to build.

“And is there a way to make ancient improvements obsolete (like a slave market)?”

The way to make buildings obsolete is by using a great wonder to shut them down. The Emancipation Proclamation renders Slave Markets obsolete.

I must have been smoking crack when I wrote this. It was my intention that the emancipation proclamation would render the slave market obsolete but only great wonders can be rendered obsolete.

you were probably wondering why I was claiming it did. one of the great dissapointments of the modding experience.

sorry for the confusion. I hate when i am the disseminator of misinformation.

it's alright kal-el. i have one question, could you make the downloads into a smaller set? i can't get ANYTHING over size 1 mg and i really really want to get this. just wondering if you had the time or patience to do this. thanks.

Erik,

Don't worry about it. :D If anything it just teaches me to be more careful when inputing anything inot the bic.:D Besides, even Firaxis has typos in the civilopedia, but I would like to put this out there with as few erros as possible, so thanks for the spellcheck, I do appreciate it.

...

Pesoloco, and anyone else who may be able to help out here. I still need pedia icon images for the following improvements. I am shooting for an end of March release of version 1.0 beta. The initial release will not have all the civilopedia text in place yet, but it will have as many pedia icons in it as I can get before Friday.

Labor Union
Civil Liberties
East India Company
Emancipation Proclamation
Edison’s Workshop
Civil Rights Movement
Genome Project
Central Bank
Cable Network
The Internet
Global E-Bank

Sorry it took a while to respond, but do you still need help with these graphics?

pesoloco,

check out the mod in the completed mods forum.

the biggest need at this time is units graphics. I have posted a few requests on the main creation board. if you would be willing to put those together, that would better than great!!!

check it out, the link is in my sig.

This sounds like an awesome mod! My only question is, with all the new techs, units, buildings, and wonders, how are you supposed to finish by 2050 AD? :) Will it be edited to last longer (say 3000 AD or so)?

From my experience, and from what I have heard from others on the boards, it was always a question of whether I could burn through the tech tree before 1800 AD. I added the techs to try and slow the game down a dit.

there are additional science improvements to help you though as well as a few more industrial buildings.
