DPII's Unit Previews

The current model looks good. African forest elephants were to small to carry towers, and I gather they didn’t use howdahs. They were ridden like horses.

but it would look neater :p (and besides, then it woudl look perfect for a seleucid/Pyrric style elephant

I was actually thinking of successor elephants when you mentioned the howdah.

But an additional elephant with a tower and two guys with pikes… :mischief:

Xen is mistaken for a change...

dont be so sure; a Roman plate shows either a Pyrric (selucid), or a carthaginian elephant with a howda; if its a pyrric elephant, it means the selucids, where Pyrrus got his elephants, trainers, and equipement for them, also had them; if it was carthaginian, then the carthaginans had elephantas with howds; I've seen the picture variuouslly ascribed to both nations, so I cannot say which it belonged to for sure; but one thig is certian; out of the two, I'm right about one of them :p

elephants of any size are more the large enough to carry a large wooden box with two guys in it, in addition to the actual driver.

Xen, I'm just going based on what I was told... if you want to argue about Louis with it, that's fine. He's far more knowledgeable on this particular subject than I am.

SoG: The elephant was actually slightly smaller than a Shetland Pony and the riders could fit in the palm of your hand...

Well, it's not as simple as that... I'm VERY displeased with my Hwarang Archer. I really don't like it to be honest. The Civ-colors are all screwed up... I used too much over too broad a spectrum of colors. In any event, I also have a picture of a real Hwarang compared to the RoN version. I want to make a new version (mounted and unmounted):
If you want to be accurate with the colours, don't go by that painting, cause it's old and faded and otherwise different to the original colours due to deterioration.

... Here we go again :p Hannibal's elephants were an extinct, North African species; successor elephants (I presume you mean successor to Alex the Great) were the much larger, and equally extinct, Syrian elephant.

DomPedro, I have a request for you :)

Can you re-make the Elephant Archer?

That unit has many problems that me and Aluminium tried to fix, but redoing it from scratch with your model would be best (was it one of your first units?).
Aluminium fixed the palettes
I fixed the size (it was too big), the archer (too big, I make him be seated instead of standing up, but the result wasn't perfect), the saturation of the elephant (it should be more gray), the offsets.
But still the perspective isn't good. It should be infinite, like all the other units

I've been planning to redo my first eight units (the three elephants, and four camels, and the Jomon Warrior) for quite some time because first of all, the palettes are terrible, and second of all, the camera angle is wrong on all of them.
