Dragon Age on the way?!

It's a Biowaregame for PC. I told you :p.

It's also an rpg, set in a new franchise/universe. It's been in development for five years or so (what Bioware says, anyway), probably on and off and from scratch at some point during that period. There are some very old E3-pictures of the game somewhere.
They focus on a strong SP-campaign, with different startingpoints for different characters.
There are three races - human, elf, dwarf, and three starting classes - fighter, 'skillguy', mage, which presumely branch at later stages.

I'm not sure if it will be any good, but Bioware has made a couple of good games in the past, and they're free to do whatever they like with this franchise.

I am looking forward for this game since they announced it a couple of years ago. In 2006 there were some articles about Dragon Age but since then news about the game are depressingly rare.
Good to see more info coming on wednesday.
And btw, afaik there are four races but the last one is still unnanounced.

I think they scrapped the fourth race, at least I have a faint recollection of it, or they just made it a non-playable race.
I believe the project's been more or less on hold for some time with the Mass Effect and other more urgent projects being prioritized.

Goddamit, I can't wait for the site to update.
It is already July 9 for over 17 hours here, but it seems I'll still have to wait for news until it's afternoon in Edmonton.

Having read the wiki it sounds interesting, but i remain skeptical about how "open ended" it will be, and why the . .. .. .. . do we still have to be stuck into a particular class? This isn't 199X.

You mean you want it big and bland like Oblivion? The best rpgs were made in the late 90's so that's not a really good argument...

Here's something while you wait - :)

Uh, no, that's not what I said at all. I dislike classes. While they work for, say, D&D games, I want an RPG that doesn't have classes. I don't want to be restricted in what I can use by a choice I made at the beginning of the game. (Unless that choice was to nuke half the gameworld, then restrictions would be obvious). I also REALLY hope they put any of that combo-. .. .. .. . combat in, although they didn't do too badly in KoToR. Mount&Blade has raised my expectations quite high, although I may be willing to overlook a few things if the story and setting is really good (eg The Witcher), I'd still rather have something like what Far Cry 2 promises then another linear KoToR. If you understand what I mean.

I like classes, they bring another choice to the game that is important.

You hope they don't put it in, right?!

I like the openended/sandbox games, but somehow rpgs never live up to the hopes when they are openended (which was the reason I brought up Oblivion), not for me anyway. We'll see about Fallout3, but I have higher hopes for Dragon Age and Diablo3 in particular.

edit: it's now july the 11th we're waiting for. It seems they're releasing a trailer at gametrailers that day :-/

There's a trailer up now -> :-/

So there's been some disappointment about the lame site update on july 9 and the too short and pretty generic trailer, but now we're getting real infos about the backstory, a longer trailer (composed of the two shorter ones) and screenshots that live to the "spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate" thing.
Spoiler :

1. I don't like being limited to what I can use, unless it is using D&D rules and is a D&D based game like BGII.

2. Yes I meant I hope they don't.
