Update 6
450-445 B.C.E.
This time period constitutes the longest era of peace the world has yet known.
The land known as Marathos, in Gaul, expands and builds to prepare for war. They are surrounded on two fronts by an angry and aggressive people, the Gauls. These ‘Gauls’ were once, supposedly, the descendants of Celts, who are considered a nearly extinct race, the first ‘civilized’ nation in Europe proper (not counting the Greeks and, to some extent, Italics in the south). Of course, civilized was a relative term to use, since, compared to the Judeans, Mayans, or Gojoseon of the same time period, these Celts were very much barbaric.
But, these Gauls are more vicious than their Celtic ancestors, which lead the civilized land of Marathos to believe they were a migration from the wild lands of Germania to the east.
Of course, the term ‘Gaul’ to connote all of Western Europe is a stretch. The lands should be called ‘Marathos’.
Gaul is a kingdom along the Atlantic Ocean in the west. Their king, Gaboxan (r. 467 – present) built his capital at Le Havre, far to the north. His domain now extends south, around the powerhouse Marathos, and to Aquitaine, where the last remnants of the Celts resided. They, however, were pushed out by Gaul’s numbers and ferocity, and took refuge in a, literally, unknown world, known as Iberia. Here, they scratch out an existence, plotting to retake their lands from the vile Gaul.
Enter Marathos. The empire is wealthy and strong, and the people’s spirit is great. Gauls from outside the nation are jealous of this power, which leads Marathos to look around for allies. The fragile Celtic state in Iberia seems a logical choice.
Even with the Gauls vying with Marathos for power, outside threats should be watched. The Germanics are considered monsters in battle, while in Italy there seems to be a power growing of unimaginable proportions…

In China, the Han have reorganized their battle formations considerably, though no major power is attacked yet.
They introduce new, terrible weapons to their infantrymen. While Gojoseon fights in disciplined phalanxes, the Han fight with vicious axe-spears (O.O.C. – Halberdiers) that gore out charging enemies. While the slaughter begins in the front, archers behind fire volleys straight into the enemy, point-blank range. Song and Yan claim the Han fight like barbarians, but there is no denying that a new deadly method of combat has been concocted.
Domestically, Han wishes to find new trading partners. The ‘barbarians’ in Vietnam and Mongolia originally attacked Han, but after tribute they backed down – in fact, several Viet villages join Han, though the remaining Viets claim they are ‘traitors’ and a civil war has begun in the south. Meanwhile, a silk trade is growing, and even though they are not as civilized as their northern counterparts, the Viets do have contacts. They speak of a nation to the west, and they point to Han’s cities and say “Vedics”. Whatever this means is yet to be seen.
Han sends an envoy to the Yamamato and gives them gifts of luxuries. The Yamamato are awed at Han’s large War Junks and vicious weapons and strong armor, while their own men are weak in comparison. Yamamato accepts the gifts and wishes for more friendship and cooperation in the future.
Gojoseon, meanwhile, begins a very audacious project to map out the [known] world. The hopes are that this information will be a major asset in Gojoseon’s armory of knowledge and civilization. Though expensive, and long, this may lead to a very big discovery.
In addition, Gojoseon began earnest construction of port and dock facilities in Pusan. The harbor there is magnificent. This aides both the military and domestic navies of the nation.
However, pirates attacks on Gojoseon have increased, while in Han they have decreased. What could be the source of these attacks?

In Central America, the violent civil war continues in Teotihuacán. The king seems to be gaining the upper hand, however ever increasing support from Tikal fuels the general’s war effort until, in 442, Tikal sends several thousand soldiers to the region to try and overthrow the king. Chichen Itza is outraged at Tikal’s open tactics, and sends several companies of their own infantry to act as “mercenaries” for the king.
The Mayans refuse to combat a single party, but instead hope for a compromise. They are hoping that the king is overthrown, but instead another member of the royal line is instated, not the general. This has both sides in Teotihuacán distrusting the Mayans, though the general appreciates the aide.
Meanwhile, the Mayans turn to the sea. They send exploration parties along all the coastlines to try and find suitable areas to form colonies. Along the coast of South America and western North America, the Mayans find little habitable land, and in the Caribbean the Caribs oppose the Mayan expansion. Only in eastern North America is there suitable land, but it is guarded fiercely by the natives of the areas. Potential areas are selected, but no real progress is made.
The Caribs and Mayans form a trade agreement, and jade from the Maya is exchanged for the Carib spices. Thus, the Caribbean is becoming a major traffic area as four nations’ ships trade with each other.

In the Mediterranean, Nubia seems on the verge of war with Egypt. The Nubian envoy was, at least he claims, poisoned, though not enough of the dose meant it was not lethal. The Nubian king is outraged at this murderous act, but the Egyptians deny any involvement. The Nile is fortified by both parties.
Judea is encroaching on Egypt from the east, as the Red Sea begins to be filled by Judean boats. Judean cities are fortified, and the people are once again crafting arms and shields for war.
Then, out of no where, a Nubian detachment sets fire to the slums of the slaves in Memphis. The fire rages all night until finally the water of the Nile calm the flames. The Pharaoh is horrified, and immediately marches an army south to the border. War is declared a day later.
Egypt surprises the Nubians. Nubia thought the northern Nile nation was weak and unstable, but a force of 10,000 men from Egypt disproves this. The Nubians abandon their defenses and fall back along the Nile, as their numbers in the area were barely half the size of the Egyptians. Many cities are abandoned and recaptured by Egypt, and only a lack of supplies slowed them down. However, in the way of the Egyptian force, outside Thebes, is a large Nubian army.
The stage is set for the two sides to collide in the coming days.

The Iroqui, who were at the feet of the Hurons, have rebuilt their lands and are recuperating as a potential threat to the Hurons and Serpent People.
The Hurons, though, will not stand for this, and a massive army forms along the Iroqui border. The Huron chief, and his only son, led this army. The numbers were huge – almost twice what the Iroqui could hope to muster. So, the Iroqui did the only thing they could do – pray.
A nightlong festival of Iroqui praying and sacrificing animals, led by the tribal shaman, is the only hope of the beleaguered people. The Huron chief, however, laughs at this festival. He plans to march on the Iroqui heartlands the next day, and sleeps, dreaming of his success.
Late in the night, as the Iroqui are still praying, a huge fireball from the heavens streaks across the sky. It grows larger, and larger, as the inferno grows closer and closer to the Iroqui. The people are alarmed and frightened, but calm after meteor misses them.
While the Huron chief and his son slept, they did not see the threat of flame that approached them. The meteor struck the Huron camp, sending fire and death in all directions. The chief died instantly as a massive crater formed in the Huron campsite.
As the survivors, including the chief’s son, emerged from the rubble, the nearby river flooded into the area, the crater becoming a lake. The chief’s son drowned, as did most of the army, leaving the Huron nation dumbfounded and in chaos.
The Hurons are now plunging into the barbaric ways they once lived, and are no longer a united threat against the Iroqui.
