Hi Folks

Im probably being a bit thick here - but i have dusted down my old copy of CIV II for the playstation and am to soon start playing again!

One thing i remember from when when i last played it (a few years ago), i know how to get entertainers (click on resource screen to swap resource for elvis head) but was there a way you can get scientists or anything else, in the same way?

Cheers

JC

I don't know if it's the same for the playstaion version, but you have to click on Elvis' head to turn it into a scienist. Click on the scientist to get a tax collector

The city has to be at least size 5 before you can hire scientist or tax collector.

... and the right order is: Elvis, then taxman, then Einstein
(and anyone unable to recognize either Elvis or Einstein should at least be able to recognize a taxman when he meets one :) )

you are right, both of you.
But I'm sure he got the idea :)

Maybe you want to work it out on your own, but in general...

Only use elvis to keep the city from not rioting or to make it celebrate. All other times his work doesn't count.

Tax collector is good if you have have a city that is specialiced to produce money (MP, bank and SE) or if you're in need of money.

Einstein should be most of the other times, unless you don't want science for some reason. Especially the one you use in your SSC.

Unless when using elvis to keep city happy or for celebrations, or the squares you have left aren't good enough, the worker should be working some square if possible.

This usually works for me.:)

Sometimes when a city has the cash enhancement improvements like marketplace, bank, stock exchange and superhighways you can use a taxman instead of an Elvii to solve the happiness problems. This keeps the troops happy AND helps the cash flow.

A little thing I learned about using Einsteins and taxmen. I build large cities, and after the 16th citizen appears, the city becomes full of idle people. They have no square to work!

That's when i change every lazy, pointy-theeted, sleeping, doin-nothing idle person dressed like Elvis into Einsteins. My nation's scientific association say thanks. My enemies soon find out they are using medieval weapons against a nuke.

Later, when i start researching the useless Future techs, I change all Einsteins to Taxmen in order to become "rich, rich, rich", just as my trade advisor says.

Future techs are not "worthless"! Each one adds 5 points to your final score. They are only worthless if you are not interested in score, just conquest or landing a spaceship. It all depends on your goals.

It´s a good point of view.
I almost forgot the score.
The great thing about me and my friend Airton (the only two addict Civ players I know...) , is that he plays fo conquest, and lways wants to make a greater explosion, a greater kind of victoy (he often heats, too). I do not cheat, but I do not play for score too. There´s no one around to impress! Not a single louzy soul to say "oh, what great score". So, I play for the fun. My latest ambition were to keep myself in second place (Strong, not Supreme), and go with this to the end. My joy is not in the game´s ending, but in playing it.

Of course, if you have a set of persons which who you can talk about scores, it´s great, and Future Tchs are very useful.

Man, I am downloading that CivCity... it appears to be a great utility!

Yes, as you have read, there is a way.
But change the name of this thread!
