Dune Wars Screenshots Thread

Nope, Our Archers can get Vanilla melee promotions, While our warriors can get CG.
Its different. Just my feedback from gameplay. Perhaps changing defence bonus and unit cost will change AI defence issues + AI rush weakness.

If anyone can post some good looking screenshots from 1.8 then I'd be much obliged. Just reach out and press Print Screen!

The calm before the storm. Too bad next turn, let slip the dogs of war. To War!.JPG

The Harkonnens showed uncharacteristic mercy and allowed Ecaz to capitulate.:DEcaz surrenders!.JPG

Golden Age - check. Overwelming forces - check. Time to put the BG out of their misery.BG don't have a chance!.JPG

At the start of the war, the BG were at war with the Bene Tlielax. Since I did not want the BG to surrender to the Tlielax, I gave the Tlielax two techs for them to declare peace with the BG. Big mistake on their part.:pAnother one bites the dust.JPG

One shot of a couple cities showing some infantry (or soldiers, i don't remember exactly which units are there.) Another of some units moving towards a new city location.

With sufficient effort, Arrakis can be transformed into a verdant paradise, with lush water-rich grasslands. In the sinks of Arrakis, protected from the raging winds, forest cover can begin to grow.

Dune Wars team, let me congratulate you on a mod well done. :goodjob: I played on Prince level using the Arrakis map ( working my way up to my normal playing level of Emperor). I have to say I hate playing against Ecaz (when they start on my land mass). My first lead..First score lead.JPGFinally I subdue House Ecaz.Ecaz tamed.JPGAfterwards, the Bene Teilax must fall.Teilax surrender!.JPGHouse Ix now rules Dune!Victory Ix1.JPGVictory Ix2.JPGVictory Ix3.JPGVictory Ix4.JPGWhat do you think of my stompage?

More fun and games, this time playing Leto II as leader of House Atreides, resulting in a personal best score playing on Prince level.

Emperor level is quite noticably more difficult than Monarch, but the right strategy wins big every time.:D

can you elaborate your strategy on Emperor level ? for example, what's the best technology line?...
I always build 'The Stone of Prophecy' first (even on Deity). I will regenerate the map if I don't have a production boosting resource in the BFC of my capitol city. First techs I get - Mysticism, Mining, Desert Survival, Water Conservation, Exploration, Defense Tactics, Spice Extraction, Water Transportation, Stillsuits, Arrakis Habitation, and then Education. Usually this allows me to build 'Filmbook Archives' (2nd GP normally will be a Great Scientist which I then use to get Social Mobility for free). Other key techs - Offworld Trade, Academies, Culture of Dune, and Vendettas. However, by this time the AIs have caught up and have other key techs I don't have. I trade techs with the AIs fairly aggressively.

Key goals - espionage superiority (absolutely critical - it will help you choose research priorities e.g. why let the AIs get Solaris Economy when you can beat them to it), strong defense first, air superiority and then finally an overwhelming combined arms offensive force (built using Kanly civic). Declare war, take a few cities from the target civ (based on game conditions) and let them capitulate. Choose the next victim and repeat process (with your vassal(s) joining in on the fun:)) until victory (three vassals usually does it). There's a bit more to it of course, but this is generally what I do.

One last point, in game conditions greatly affect the order I get tech. If House Atriedes has Hawk thopters, I don't wait to get rocket troopers - part of the 'strong defense first' philosophy.

Thanks ,I just played as Atriedes on Emperor , at 136 turns , 1-2 AI had 4-5 of tech ahead of me ,althoug I had highest sorce and GDP... In this time, some AI liked to go for Education ,so Filmbook Archives was built by other AI...

And is religion important?...

And is religion important?...
Yes to a point. I personally like Imperial, Qizarate and Madi. I always get at least one. Sometimes the AIs will beat you to them. That is why Education is so important (even if the 'Filmbook Archives' are built by someone else) - it will allow you to see on the Foreign Advisor screen what each civ can research, will trade etc. Also my strategy is more of a warmonger strategy, so eventually I end up getting the founding cities for the religions anyway.

Did you choose "No technology broken" ?

I tried again with House Atreides, it seems initial AI's attitude to human player is not high, at least on Emperor , so it's very difficult to trade technology ,and if AI can trade technologies with each other ,humen player will behind AI very quickly..
