E3 Presentation Narrated by Sean Bean

Despite the fact we've seen the footage before, that was a really nicely put-together video, and it was good to hear Cleopatra talking Coptic!

That epicness. The game is looking more and more beautiful.

4:36, in front of Jiaodong, are there houses in the sea? :crazyeye:

And I hope they enhance the river graphic. Looks like plain one-coloured grey at the moment opposed to the quite lively environment they have now.

It's a Harbor district. It's built on water.

I dunno. While I like Sean Bean, that`s not enough. The game still looks very cartoony, especially the leaders. I would`ve much preferred realistic looking leaders, cities and landscapes.

Also, they really cheaped out on the Leader backgrounds, now it`s just a painting.

All very Warner Bros Bugs Bunny feel apart from Sean Bean`s voice... I`m surprised he didn`t end with `That`s All, folks!`

Atleast the audio team is getting things done right so far. Sean is a great choice!

Yes! No more "Ramesses speaks Egyptian Arabic" nonsense. :D I can't help but wonder if they just assumed no one would notice what language a leader spoke in Civ5, and, having found that we did notice, are actually paying better attention this time around...

I think the issue was their own lack of foresight. And probably that.

I think there was a talk at FiraxisCon about the languages the leaders spoke.

If Sean Bean's hanging out with me while playing CVI, and they spent their budget on him instead of better graphics.... I'm totally fine with that :)

It doesn't sound arabic to me. So probably it is coptic?

it is coptic - Ed confirmed in todays livestream. He also mentioned they're very happy about how voice-casting worked out...

concerning Sean Bean: AWESOME!!! I prefer playing in my mother-language (german) but I will likely go for the english version this time. The german Voice is not bad but not as epic as Sean...

Wait, what about the voice-casting made them happy this time around?

Sean Bean wouldn't be a bad narrator. Though I think they should also have a female narrator read some of the tech quotes etc as well (esp. for the Modern era).

Not Sean! He referred to the leaders speaking in their own language... Teddy English, Cleo coptic, Qin chinese...
I think Sean is all set!

Eyhup, Atlantis buildings are still a thing.

Or maybe just that having every leader line dubbed in some obscure dead language is Moderator Action: snip hard and they lacked time so they just said "Moderator Action: snip it, arabian is easier.".

Moderator Action: Do not avoid the language filter

I'm sorry, but I don't buy that finding a Coptic Orthodox priest willing to read a few lines as Ramesses would be that hard to find. The majority of Egyptian emigrants to the US are Coptic Christians; Wikipedia says that according to the census there are as many as 1,000,000 Copts in the United States--surely you can find a priest among them. I'm considerably more impressed that they found a woman who can speak Coptic for Cleopatra's lines--a linguist or some sort of scholar, I would guess?

That they were able to find good voice actors that could speak the languages they wanted. And also they said they were really happy with how Cleopatra (who was on the screen when they mentioned this) came out, considering it's wasn't trivial to find a good voice actor that could speak Coptic. Something like that.

I have to say, Cleo's and TR's VAs definitely sounded a caliber above many of Civ5's voice actors. I noticed that TR's lines matched the written dialogue; I hope this holds true generally and that the leaders have more lines overall.
