I dont know what the earliest turn for an AI to get the GL is, but i just got my first pre-30 GL finish by Montezuma. It was on Deity, Pangea, standard with Babylon. That's just obscene for an AI to get it that early.

Spoiler :
Turn 28 GL.jpg

Turn 28? Insanely fast even for Deity-AI. I think get it around 35-40 most of the time, but I seriously never seen a below 30 before. You popped one or two ruins, I guess? But still to build it within 20 turns is crazy, how did you do it?

Now I go and stand over there ---> and play chieftain. :)

Good job, mate!

He's talking about the AI, not him. Monty probably hit a free tech(writing) ruin very early. Deity AI starts with pottery and some other techs.

"but i just got my first pre-30 GL finish by Montezuma."

I thought HE was Monty. If he said "as Monty", I wouldn't bother to answer. But I thought he was Monty.

My mistake was to not taking the last class of English, as I already passed. :)

"but i just got my first pre-30 GL finish AS Montezuma, would make the difference." -ranting

Still, that's the earliest date I ever saw on deity or any level. So for Monty to decide to build a wonder is less than 50% and he made into Guinness Books of Records.

But, thank you Tabarnak for pointing out my mistake, or else I will never learn. Living in Australia and 12 years of blabbling hasn't taught me all. One day I'll get it right. :)

Actually no, "AS Monty" would mean he was playing Monty. "BY Monty" means that Monty did it rather then him.

As for the actual topic...Well, I'm on my first real game and it's on Prince...so can't really comment ;)

English is not my native language. But i saw that he plays as Babylon from the picture :)

not to mention that part right there. or the sentence after that, haha.

In English the (with Babylon) may imply that you were monty and you were playing with (against) Hammi as the only opponent.

Stating that you do not know the earliest time for an AI to accomplish it, implies that you were not aware that Monty had done it in 28 turns.

A spoiler is not always opened to clearify what people thought you were trying to say, and they just took your word for it.:D

No, stating that an AI completed it is 100% confirmation that a PLAYER didnt complete it. And pretty much NO where on the forums will you see anything that says {game type, game difficulty, map type, civilization name} in reference to anything other than WHO was playing the game. It is never an assumption that they were naming an AI.

And stating that I didnt know the earliest time for an AI to accomplish it doesnt imply that I didnt know Monty did it but implies that I dont know if a "record" has been set in the game for when it was completed the earliest. All of these assumptions are incorrect for those who have English as a primary language. For those who don't I give leeway in their responses as English has many inconsistent grammar rules and many colloquialisms that hinge on regional/cultural knowledge.

If anything implied to the contrary it was "but I got my first". I didnt change it as I posted a screen cap. and stating that an AI finished it to begin with should have been enough, even for non-English speakers.

not only that, but the Diplomacy screen that was capped never displays the player's civilization. it is only those they have met and can create deals with.

i didnt think this was going to create confusion with so many confirmation indicators in my post. thanks for "getting it" though. steave435 also understood this. i feel less bad about it now.

I think the fastest I've seen an Immortal game GL is 31, but I've diety games can really silly. I have started turning off huts in high level games. The extra starting units can put you into a deep holes in a tech race game.

is turning off huts "No Barbarians"? if so, I've tried that to avoid my own harassment from them but the AI also isnt harassed by them and theyve gotten even faster expansion. i deal with them with babylon because their bowman help stave off pillaging barbarians and captured workers well enough. a DoW from china with Chuk's and swordmen on turn 40 not so much, haha.

I am now on my 6th or 7th restart (not reload of the same game but a new game altogether) because even with Babs early bonuses Im having a very hard time surviving past turn 100, even with some really great starts like great ruins/resources.

I did get one "ideal" start: 3 ruins - 1) +20 culture, 2) free archery, 3) scout -> bowman but I got mauled by Rome who had legion (and lots of them) very early. I killed off 5 of them and still lost my capital around turn 60 when he brought in Horseman. Deity is just such a beast.

For deity i think i've seen a 32 turns GL at best.

I like to throw a guess that with highly likelihood AI started GL at turn 25 because of that is the first turn of city specialization. This is assuming you don't use any AI mod.

i dont use any mods and the only settings i choose are 'No combat animations' and occasionally weather settings to enhance likelihood of getting jungles, forests, desert, etc.

I didn't know this. Are you saying that on t25 AI put all of their cities to production/gold/etc., focus? If the AI started at t25 that would make a t28 build even more incredible. 3 turn wonder without a GE at the beginning of the game?

"squinting" Can't see the part after Montezuma, it's very blurry. ;)

Sorry, my mistake(s), was reading on 3-4 sites at the same time and only saw 28 turns! What the...?

And for some reason the pic didn't want to load, so I thought you did it. It would've been cool IF you did though. :)

Still, 28 is the fastest I've ever seen. And probably one of the fastest ever for any player.

And my english IS rubbish, but I like to babble my swenglish whenever I can, some times I get it right. :)
