Yes, ok, in the Carribean and S. America sure - not nearly on the same scale as the late 1700s, but it did exist and was large enough to be noteworthy. But in the US, the triangle trade was not very important at all prior to the Revolution. The slave economy of the South developed after the Revolution as a response to the loss of the indentured servitude system.

That may be true up to a point, but the game is about both North and South America. Also, many people in New England were engaged in the triangle trade in the 17th century.
