I have an idea to choose Drama as Oracle free tech to get early Globe Theatre. I plan to build GT in my highest food city & then whip units with Slavery.
Does it make sense? Is it good idea to settle early GG in this city?

Oracle>Drama is pretty weak imo.

Whipping units from Globe city is a worthy strategy yep.
Settling a few GGs can be worth it (especially when drafting imo to get the first promo with a barrack).

What are the other techs? Just go for metal casting so you can get closer to machinery.

Drama from Oracle is pretty weak in my opinion... with little effort you can usually get a much better beaker/hammer ratio (by getting CoL or even Civil Service).

However, Globe Theater generally should be put in a city with about 3 (optimally more) food resources (with 4+ food/resource). With the draft and the whip, cities with very poor production can become awesome troop production cities.

So you had time to build the oracle ( that requires priesthood ) and of getting the drama prereq ( aesthetics ) before that ... suposing you gone writing via priesthood only ( that excludes MC , that would also be a better candidate than drama, even if because it trades well ), why not tech monarchy instead and get early feudalism ? ;) It is a similar beaker count after all ... not mentioning that you could had teched maths + CoL ( ok a strech ) and try to oracle CS :p Even CoL or Currency would be better than Drama IMHO.

First, you ask yourself how strong is a globe city whipping theater?

I guess on normal speed, it would be 60 hammers per turn from a 2 pop whip every two turns, which is pretty good for elephants. You really want better than 4 food tiles, you want 5 or 6. You want +12 food from 4 sources, which is 4 5 food, or 3 6 food and 1 3 food, 2 6 food and 2 4 food, or 1 6, 2 5's, 1 4.

It's a lot of hammers to get up (see catapult theatre), but if you get a forge you should be able to get a treb every 2 turns.

Plus you need 6 theatres first, meaning you need to have settled 6 cities already. Better to oracle something to help you expand to 6 city spots early.

I agree. You're trying to use Globe Theatre too early.

It is not particularly good with whipping anyway, as each unit costs 2 or 3 pop by the time it is realistic to get it working for you. That is a lot of effort just to whip units you can build anyway. I think it really comes into its own with drafting muskets and rifles. They only cost 1 pop each and have a horrendous +3 unhappiness that it cancels. That means you can generate 1 drafted unit per turn compared with whipping a unit every 2 or 3 turns.

Hm... What if I'm going to whip Cataphracts & wage war right after researching Guilds?

Getting Globe Theatre seems a big diversion if that's what you want to do.

Last time I played Justinian I had a good production capital and so I was churning out cataphracts every 1 or 2 turns using production bonusses from forge, Bureaucracy and HE. That's the only time I can remember putting my HE in the capital, but it sure worked. A defensive long war with Monte had given me 3 settled GGs and using Theocracy as well the new cataphracts were coming out with 13 exp. As soon as Guilds were researched I upgraded 2 HAs and 4 chariots to cataphracts (all were highly promoted survivors from earlier wars). Monte didn't last long.

Oracling guilds 0_0

What level is this?
If you dig this forum you will see people Oracling Education .... on Emperor. Getting Guilds of oracle is roughly in the same scale of dificulty....

In this case it seems a massive waste of :hammers: will warp your tech priorities, your Hippodromes are more than enough to absorb a large amount of whip  using the culture slider.
Still wouldn't Orcacle Drama though, its a cheap tech and Hippodromes are cheap, so theres really no need to rush to Drama unless you are using it as your primary :) tech.
