Early release of BTS?!?

But it is so much more COOL to get the CD case...see the pics on the back...take off the plastic...open it up...smell the new ink...take out the paperwork, and insert the CD into your drive...*bling* - you click Install Civ4: Beyond the Sword...you read the manual and start drooling as your CD drive whirrs louder than a vacuum cleaner...then...it is finished. You click the icon, put down the manual, and get ready for the best expansion for Civ, ever.

Are you being sarcastic, vilemerchant? If not, I won't waste my time trying to explain why pirating is bad.

Not even if they have already preordered it, but wants to play it as soon as possible?

It's just a question, by the way. I'm not implying anything. Seriously, I'm not.
I'm in this terrible Tantalus-situation.
I've pre-ordered it, so it'll be here in a few days, but my brother already has it.

I'm not going to play though, I keep telling myself it must be some unfinished version or something

On the other hand. I'm not sure what I'll do this weekend, if I don't got BTS on friday or saturday though.

But until now 'the power of Sid compels me' to keep the demon out ;)

I think you're getting your knickers in a knot for no reason. We ALL know that this game will be pirated like all games are. Half the posters in the Warlords section could be playing pirated Warlords (and I would bet a large minority of them are), this time next week BTS will be in that exact same situation, there'll be cracked exe's up on gamecopyworld and there'll be hundreds of opinions and threads about the game right here from both legitimate and illegitimate players.

His point was that its not piracy if you bought the game in the first place.

I understand what his point was; however, it does nothing to address what else I said.

Nobody is saying they can't give their opinions; I am simply trying to point out that pirating is frowned upon by this site, and any user who openly talks about it in a positive light will get warned and his post/thread will be deleted. If you don't believe me, I could point you to at least half a dozen threads I've seen that started with something like, "I have this no-CD cracked Warlords..."

That is, I would point you to them, but they were deleted. :)

what I find funny is the the fact that the Full version of BTS came out before the Final Frontier demo lol...

That's the insanity of it. Half of those threads probably then said '...because my CD got scratched/broken/lost and I didn't want to pay for a game TWICE that I already own' :)

But there is a point to that. It's better to approach the problem with 100% enforcement of the rule, since otherwise there is a serious chance of the forum slowly degenerating into crack/pirate rubbish. Never underestimate the ability of internet denizens to wreck anything if left unchecked.

I won't argue with that. There are people who buy the game fairly and then lose the CD or whatever and think it's unfair to have to pay for it again. I don't disagree with the sentiment. I am merely pointing out, however, that going the route of the pirates is not tolerated on this site, and I personally would steer clear of it.

BTW, several of those threads started innocently enough, "I... have to travel a lot / have several computers / have a laptop... and don't want to lug the CD around. Is there a no-CD crack?" These are also not allowed.

Anyway, let's not derail the thread...

Yes, it is frowned upon by this site, and for good reason. By using that BitTorrent (though is probably doesn't exist), you are supporting the pirates. Pirating is destructive to the companies that make good software, and is hardly ever justified. Anyway, why not wait if you have pre-ordered it? Just be patient ;).

Yeah

Exactly. It's not like you can't play Warlords while your waiting

Yeah, that's it! And failing that, play Civ4 Vanilla. Fail that (have neither yet) then spend all your hours posting on this forum ;).

QFT.

On topic, I checked the Amazon US page, and it still reads July 23... I am going to be  if our friends in the UK get it three days earlier, especially since it's released here.

Maybe you could pay $1 / hour to connect to someone's UK PC playing BtS remotely . Yeah, I don't see the sense in UK getting it sooner...though living in the UK that would suit me fine :D.

I'm sure everything is going to work out in the long run. Like, one week from now I think almost all tht threads in BtS forum will be about the new XP that everyone has played...no longer will we worry about when it is released.

They're probably making the discs in China and the Chinese are sending it to us early just to annoy you yankees:lol:

Wow, I'll have to pop into the Hobart EB tomorrow when I wake up tomorrow. Damn, I could be playing BTS in like 12 hours if that's true.
