I decided to join the bandwagon of making modified Earth 18 Civ maps, so I made this. The leader and civilization list is:

  1. Ramesses II of Egypt
  2. Gandhi of India
  3. Qin Shi Huang of China
  4. Justinian I of Byzantium
  5. Suryavarman II of the Khmers
  6. Timur (Kublai Khan) of the Timurids (Mongolia)
  7. Tokugawa of Japan
  8. Charlemagne of the Holy Roman Empire
  9. Genghis Khan of Mongolia
  10. Ragnar of the Vikings
  11. Saladin of Arabia
  12. Shaka of Zululand
  13. Zara Yaqob of Ethiopia
  14. Pedro II (Joao II) of Brazil (Portugal)
  15. Stalin of Russia
  16. Mansa Musa of Mali
  17. Pacal II of the Mayans
  18. Sitting Bull of the Native Americans

Here are the previews:

I simply took the blank version of Earth 18 Civs that I made, chose the civs and leaders with the help of the Custom Scenario option and put them in their correct starting place using the World Builder.

You can also specify the start co-ordinates in XML, but the World builder is easier.

Put in Your custom civilization by adding it to the XML.

how do you change the 18Civ map to include different civilizations of your choice??

Do you think you could have the Confederate States, United States, and some third part the former USA (liike the United Western States), exist, with the USA and UWS splitting Canada and Alaska while the CSA gets a big chunk of northern Mexico? And have the Inca's control a good chunk of South America? Just an idea/request, cuz that would mkae this , which is pretty cool, even better, so could you do it?

Can you add additional Civs in this way, or is it limited to just 18? I wanted to try adding the Sioux and Khmer civs.

I just changed the Civs in my Earth map around this evening, so I can answer this question :)

I opened a new Custom game with all the Civs in it that I wanted and saved it in Worldbuilder.

I opened the map I wanted to change and saved it in Worldbuilder.

I opened both those saves in a text editor and copied the whole chunk of Civs data at the start of the first file (including the 'empty' slots for nonexistent players 11-17) over that section in the map's save.

I then went through the map save finding every instance of the word, 'unit', and deleted all the unit data.

I then saved and opened as a Scenario. Civ4BTS had scattered Settlers everywhere; enter Worldbuilder, find and delete them all, clear everyone's Fog, and place Settlers and Warriors/Scouts where you want them.

As long as you don't leave any extra or missing linebreaks or characters where you copy & paste, it should all work fine and load. Worst case scenario I've had from an improperly formatted .WB file is Civ4BTS getting confused by it and needing force quitting. Deleting or moving the rogue file fixed that.

I understand there are mods for >18civs, but I'm not familiar with them.

I haven't actually played this, but aren't there balance issues? I can see HRE, Portugal and the Native Americans become monsters.
