Earth map, with 18 civs (Huge)

Rhye I'm sorry for digging up a buried thread, but I just downloaded this map and have an issue with it.

It looks great, only thing is when I try to play as someone in Hotseat, the first city i build doesn't grow. Everything else works fine, and if I build a settler that second city will grow, but the first one doesn't.

Here's the weird thing. I tried playing as a random civ, and when I did that, the city grew. When I specified a civ (several different ones), it didn't grow.

Any guesses as to what that might be? If you have any ideas, please give me as much detail as you can on how to fix it, as I am not in any way a modder or a programmer.

Thanks!

Oh wait...sorry to double up, but I just realized that you can't play your map in Hotseat, so my problem is general. Still happens when your map though, IIRC.

Hiya

This is a great map, and i've enjoyed it. However, I've noticed that all 18 civilisations (the one i've chosen for me plus 17 AI) are playing. Is there a way to choose for example 6 or 7 rival AI civs (which one would vary from game to game), and then for the rest not to appear. You could do this on previously through "select opponents" but this doesn't seem to exist in Civ 4

Cheers

DCJ

is there i way i can play this map with 18 civs in warlords instead of the new one???

Anyone can teach me how to change the Egypt and China leaders?

I could do it with all of them, except Hatshepsut and Qin Shi Huang. I want to trade them with Ramesses II and Mao Zedong.

Egypt - Ramesses II
India - Gandhi
China - Mao Zedong
Greece - Alexander
Rome - Julius Caesar
Persia - Cyrus
Japan - Tokugawa
Germany - Bismarck
France - De Gaulle
Arabia - Saladin
Spain - Isabella
England - Churchill
Russia - Stalin
Mailnese - Mansa Musa
Inca - Huayna Capac
Aztec - Montezuma
America - Roosevelt

These are the leaders that I want in the game. If you can help, i will thank you.

(Sorry for my awful english)

beyond the sword map? There is no such thing in BTS

muahahaha, nice signature Rhye!

Anyway, can I randomize the starting locations or the resources would not be fairly placed?

Saluti e complimenti!

I encountered the same trouble: if Egypt is the 1st civ listed, I couldn't change anything without messing up the file. (Notepad's no use with this, Rhye...):(

I solve the problem. You have to put in the notepad just "RAMESSES" for Egypt - Ramesses and "CHINESE_LEADER" for China - Mao Zedong.

i'm a mac user, i could use this as a plain text file, which i can convert to after download, the only thing is when i convert it to plain text file the script becomes generic and a wholly different one than is intended for this map. anyone have any ideas on how to somehow derive the correct script immediately after download, or anyone happen to be able to access it on their windows, could you please copy and paste it here so i could use it? thanks very much

Sorry for digging this back up, but I have a bit of a problem.

I'm running a Mac, and I uploaded the map into Public_Maps, so I can play it without the mod. It loaded up fine, and I played to 170 AD with Tokugawa. It was an amazing game so far, one of my best. I had to go, so I saved and cancelled it. Now, whenever I try to load it back up, it crashes. I tried to load it about 5 times, but no luck. I then loaded up another game, without the mod. It worked fine.

Any idea what's happening?
