Earth map, with 18 civs (Huge)

Can someone help me with the XML editor to add the codes:

no technology trading
no time limit
no space race victory
raging barbarians

please?

I don't know the codes to add these options!

So far on this map, the memory is peaking well over 1.5 Gb with only 1GB of ram it start to slow down when the map is revealed and heading to the modern age. I've notice if I reload it temporary drop the memory use down to 1.1 GB. The only other game that peaks this high in Pacific Fighter( 4.02m patch) with excellant settings (including perfect water and trees). I got 2X 512mb of ram coming though the mail which hopely will improve the performance by not using the harddrive so much.
Still this map is fun and interesting. playing America on noble I started out behind since I couldn't trade tech with those in Europe but around 1700's I making a come back with all those resources. Now I must battle for that oil in Texas. :) Thanks Rhye.

Has anyone got this map running smooth in late of the game? Does 2gb of ram helped?

I played America on Noble, and I must say, the Aztecs are a real pain if not dealt with. They took all my spots to expand, and declared war on me to conquer the rest of North America. Plus with only three Civs to trade with on America (One you usually don't meet untill much later on and the other, as said, loves to expand) keeps you in the back of the scores.

But I am bad at Civ anyway. :p

One thing I would like to have is to be able to select all the leaders. Not just the earlyest (I would of switched Roosevelt for Washington)

I don't know about how to edit this codes but if all you want to do is to have these options on with this earth map then simply choose MULTPLAYER then LANS. Then pick load scenario , "18 civ earth map" then pick your civ. This will bring you to the multplayer options menu to choose any options you want.

Try playing america again but this time be ready for war at all times from Aztecs no matter how good your relations is with them. Also try to cut them off early by build a line of cities from the east coast to the west for your first 4 cities then don't agree to open borders even after you own most of North America. I had them attack me right after (10 turns) we open borders as if Aztecs were spying out my cities for future attack.

Hey thanks a lot! This makes it a lot simpler!

I pointed out the basics on how to do this in my post here:
How to ADD/REMOVE/EDIT options in Custom Maps

Here is how to get the options that you want:

-- OPEN --
CustomMap File you want to edit

-- FIND --
Code:
Calendar=CALENDAR_DEFAULT

-- AFTER ADD --
Code:
	Option=GAMEOPTION_NO_TECH_TRADING
	Option=GAMEOPTION_RAGING_BARBARIANS
	Victory=VICTORY_CONQUEST
	Victory=VICTORY_DOMINATION
	Victory=VICTORY_CULTURAL
	Victory=VICTORY_DIPLOMATIC

-- SAVE, CLOSE AND LOAD MAP --

So in the Default Rhye's Earth Map / 18 Civ this is how the code should look:
Code:
Version=11
BeginGame
	Calendar=CALENDAR_DEFAULT
	GameTurn=0
	StartYear=-4000
EndGame

This is how it should look for the options you want:
Code:
Version=11
BeginGame
	Calendar=CALENDAR_DEFAULT
	GameTurn=0
	Option=GAMEOPTION_NO_TECH_TRADING
	Option=GAMEOPTION_RAGING_BARBARIANS
	Victory=VICTORY_CONQUEST
	Victory=VICTORY_DOMINATION
	Victory=VICTORY_CULTURAL
	Victory=VICTORY_DIPLOMATIC
	StartYear=-4000
EndGame

Hope that helps :D

Thanks Kilim for that helpful infor.
There two differences in use Multiplay/ Lans option then in single player (which mean you would have to use Kilim example):
1) I could be wrong but I beleive the difficulty you choose in lans only affect your civ only and not the AI (yet playing noble would be the same). So higher difficulty would slow down your research and becomes more difficult to keep your people happy but AI wouldn't get the bonus they would normally get if playing on that level in single game option. (It would be nice to know exactly what bonuses AI get at each level.)
2) You can't use the world builder mode so no cheating or moding.

For right now, making changes by using lans is good enough to me.

P.S It seems AI does get their bonuses in Lans after all.

Thanks for Rhye
Cool map, but it need more mountains near Gimalayies. I think.

I can only have the option to select one leader per civ :confused:. Am I doing something wrong?

No. In order to set the starting position for each civ Rhye had to pick a leader for each civ in WB.

I know the question has been asked several times before in this thread, but until now I haven't read a clear answer:

Could someone please clearly describe to someone who isn't a modding expert how to change the number of playable civs in this mod. I mean: what do you have to do EXACTLY in order to remove some civs and still be able to get the game started without crashing?

To be as concrete as possible: say I want to remove the Americans. I open the mod file 'Earth18civs' with my TXT editor. What EXACTLY do I delete, what do I modify and what do I leave?

thank you very much already!

PS: Rhye, I really like your map. I think you've done a great job (I know Marla Singer boasting on your map is quite a reference!). I'd just like to play your mod without the american and african civs (Americans, Incans, Aztecs, Malinese) in order to give the game a touch of 'colonization'... :king:

I'd like to chime in that this is a great map.

I've played this map several times now, as Egypt, as Arabia, China twice and as Japan. I've played on Noble to Emperor. Here's what I've found to be the best Civ to play with (if you want 9 Civs or so in the game instead of 18):

Romans, Germans, Russians, Egyptians, Persians, Indians, Chinese, Mongolians, Japanese.

I found this to be incredibly well balanced -- different civs changing whose on top constantly, occasionally civs being eliminated (one game germany on top, another eliminated).

Another good option is to throw the Malinese in there to share Africa with the Egyptians. I found this a bit annoying since they found religions really aggressively and it made it hard to play a religion-focused game. You can also remove the Germans -- I had a good game that way.

If you are going to play as the Greeks, one square higher is a much better starting location for them. It adds 2 sheep to their city screen. Unfortunately, they still don't have fresh water, making them very hard to play on Emperor or above.

So I love this map, but a few suggestions to make improvements.

Why do all the earth maps put no stone in India? Traditional architecture in India is dominated by lots and lots of stone -- just look at the backdrop to the Indian leaders. Clearly they had more access to stone then, say, the Gauls in France.

In general, I think the resource allocation for India and East Asia isn't as accurate as for Europe/Africa. There's a huge mountain over the cradle of Chinese Civilization (where Chang An, the capital of China for over a thousand years I believe, sits) and "the rice bowl of China", the Southwest, is mostly hills with little rice.

For about 10 years now I've owned "The Times Atlas of World History". This is a great resource for creating Civ maps. It tells you where in the ancient world they mined coper, got timber, grazed cattle, grew silk, etc. It covers all periods up to the modern day. It's a truly wonderful resource. I'd suggest it for anyone interested in creating maps or just knowing where resources were found.

Great map !
But After 200 turns, the game kicks me out to Windows ! And so on every 2 to 5 turns ! (with or without the 1.09 patch, and it never happens with other maps).
Does anybody know why ? And more important what to do ?

Thanks

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed on this thread, but I didn't read all of it, just parts: why are there some resources in places that make them unusable? Like wheat and rice on hills?
