Greetings all ,
i just rang the local EB games shop and he says that civ4 is schelduled release in australia in first week in december and on dvd disc.
I'm not surprised by the delay in australia since the goverment here interferes with games to see if they contain violence and if so there banned damm
australian goverment always interferes with adults trying to enjoy themselves.

I hope the game is released earlier though, dec is long way to wait

cheers

Thanks for that, I wondered about poor us.

Funny thing about the Film and Games classification board is that its their job to go around watching popular films and playing games and still they drag their feet getting their jobs done! Give one of those to me!

Actually guys, I am really glad for the delay. Gives ample time for our American and European buddies to test the game out for us-and find any hidden bugs and/or tell us if its worth buying ;) :mischief: . See, I am always trying to look on the bright side :)!

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

Good, just in time for christmas.

At least our board isn't as bad as the german's (or at least I think it was them in the guiness world records - can't remember), who don't allow any human like character to die. (so they resort to zombies :crazyeye: . Any germans correct me if i am wrong.

On the subject of it being on a DVD-ROM, i would imagine it would also be available in CD-ROM in America... however i'm not too sure, they did that with a few other games.

eb games said the price was around $89.95 includes rubbish gst, but we all know the true price here in australia what we pay for games.

Yeah, I can't imagine them only having it on DVD. I don't have a DVD drive so, needless to say, I'd be pretty pist if that was the case.

Maybe they include a voucher for a free DVD ;).

For those who do not have a DVD drive, perhaps your computer specifiactions for the game will be not enough for you to run the game in the first place. Perhaps you could say, Civ IV is coming out, I NEED a new computer. ;)

Hey, my computer is amazing! I just didn't buy a DVD drive because it would add to the price and was unnecessary ;)

It'll be worth it anyway - a lot of new games require DVD-Drives, so i'd say it would be worth getting one anyway. Mine cost me £30. I reckon they'd be much cheaper now.

My computer will smash civ4 to bits and peices. I just haven't bothered to get a dvd rom. (I should have gotten it when I upgraded my motherboard and CPU) oh well. I can always use one of the other computer's dvd roms over the network (perfectly legal by the way).

The Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) here in Australia is a total joke. They banned GTASA for a third party mod (which I am sure most here have already heard on the news, no matter where you are in the world) and in terms of classifying games, do I agree with bt_oz in that the OFLC do hold back games/movies to review them instead of getting off their collective butts and actually reviewing, on time... :gripe:

$89.95 is the average price for a game here in Aus. Civ3 was the same price; for the standard edition and the Collector's Edition was $109.95.

I'll definitely be buying it on its release; unless it is banned by the OFLC for simulating warfare

DVD? How big are the files?

I agree with Aussie_Lurker, at least we will find out what bugs there are before arrival. Who knows, maybe there will be some mods ready and waiting as well.

G'day all, I'm hoping that civ4 will be bug free when shipping, but i doubt it, but by the time we get it australia, there might be patches and mods already, i wonder if anyone here on civfanatics is a beta tester? but alas they can't disclose such info bugger!
cheers
