Edge Scrolling

Edge scrolling is a fundamental, basic feature in Civ games. I absolutely need it to travel around the map, which you do tons. What is the likelihood that this basic, fundamental feature will be added in the next patch?
I share your oppinion and hope that we will get it one day. It wouldn't be the first game where it got added past-release (Millenia, Master of Magic remake) or during development (Pax Augusta) by request...however, given how many UI issues Civ7 has, how often edge scrolling is mentioned prominently and how silent the devs where about to consider it (I'm not even sure that they have it on their radar at all)...I doubt we will see this in the next patch. The problem is just that this feature is considered to be not longer needed or even liked in some modern hardware environments (like multiple monitors)...and development seem to cater to this standard. Old style players (or more precisely: those using a classic technic setup to play) are just no longer a priority and that's why at best "we" get this with a delay and after requesting it.

Frustrating. Can't FIRAXIS see that their old line, loyal players are the best people to keep the franchise alive and healthy into the future?

I find using the keyboard keys to move around the map works great. But I am sure Firaxis is aware of the perceived issue. They are after all doing a lot of work inspired by the community.

I experience a weird bug where sometimes using the keyboard to scroll causes the game to scroll endlessly in one direction.

Apart from that it’s fine, but there’s no reason not to have edge scrolling.

Is this on Mac? I have the same issue every now and then, but civ isn‘t the only game in which I have this issue. It‘s stopped by pressing the respective key again, but I don‘t now what prompts it.

My problem is using mouse hold and drag. It seems half of the time it holds the mouse move permanent to the mouse, so when I let go of the mouse button, the map swirls around like crazy according to where the pointer is, and often redoing the mouse button click does not fix it for another two three tries.
