I've just updated my game from the latest stable version to the newest svn and all of a sudden my civ is crippled by stupidity. 545 turns in and my size 19 capital city with all education buildings constructed (library and math academy are the most advanced) and it's still at -25. There's literally nothing more I can do about it, yet every turn my research gets longer and longer because of the negative education values in all my cities. When I updated, their values were all in the hundreds. So it seems like there must be something problematic with how much population affects your education rate.

I assume you have also built all the dance (human and horse) buildings plus any temples available.

Have you built the animal myth and story buildings? They are build with subdued animals.

I've built the dance and temple. Looks like i don't have the story buildings. Must not have been present in the version I started the game in. Looking at it, if I built all the stories I would be at -9. I don't know if anyone else has had this issue but given the rapid rate cities grow in this (great) mod maybe it's worth a look at decreasing the effect of pop on education.

You need to have used the subdued animals to build the Myth buildings first, 500 animals means potentially +500 education. Myths give a small bit of science that turns to education later. Story buildings give a small bit of education. They have been in for a number of versions but not all animals have been converted over yet to produce all the buildings.

Note: The Myth buildings can only be built by subdued animals. Most Story buildings can only be built by the subdued animal or a bard and all require a Myth building first. Tamed animals can sometimes build Myth and Story buildings.

I'm not sure how your education took such a massive drop after an update since I don't think those modifiers have been adjusted lately. BUT... to address your immediate crisis, simply build entertainers and set them to educate the city with their promo selections and buildups. Shouldn't be too tough to get on top of it.

Besides that, now would be a good time to consider switching civics since an undereducated public won't spend as much time in revolt ;)

As people said before:
1.build story tellers/bards/entertainment
2.hunt animals and get myths
3.change civics

Education is now balanced pretty well IMHO

Give them the apple shaped promo and use the red or blue shield to set them on education build up.
