I just downloaded the save. I got the 1.22 patch for Conquests, but when I go to load the file, it says: NOT A VALID SAVE FILE, and then underneath it it says where the file is located.
Can anyone help?

I deleted the attached save from my other post and uploaded it again here. I was having a few problems with the attachment feature for that post, so it's POSSIBLE that something got wacky. (For some reason, the forum won't let you attach the same exact file twice, at least in the same thread, so I had to delete and re-upload. :crazyeye:)

If that doesn't work for you, and you are patched through 1.22 C3C, than I'm not sure what to say. I'm involved in another SG and no one has mentioned my save files not working.

Ok, well the new save upload is working for me, I should have the 10 turns almost finished, but if a manage a 2nd settler (which I should), I'll have to ask everyone here for a vote for the next city spot.

Glad to hear the save is working.

For the next city spot, I would probably vote for the plains tile 3S of Mayflower. Get some workers irrigating those plains and that will make a nice spot.

The jungle tile 3NE of Mayflower is not bad, and give us another potential curragh producer, but it will be shield poor for quite a while to come.

Plains 3S of Mayflower is a good spot if we get some irrigation down there. I agree.
Finished! Took above advice for newest city.

1st Turn 2110 B.C.: Not much going on. Mayflower settler built and it begins Warrior.

2nd Turn 2070 B.C.: Writing, Mayflower Warrior, Spizter Worker all finish next turn. Mine near Mayflower finishes and moves to mine hill.

3rd Turn 2030 B.C.: Assuming Republic Slingshot, Begin CoL at 90% No embassies built when Writing was finished. Spiter Shack Worker--> Baracks. Mayflower Warrior---> Settler. Worker finished chop at Emperor Club IBT.

4th Turn 1990 B.C.: Moonlight Bunny Ranch established at voted point. Begins Curragh.

5th Turn 1950 B.C.: Worker irrigates plains near Emperor Club

6th Turn 1910 B.C.: Mayflower Settler finishes next turn. Just Worker stuff.

7th Turn 1870 B.C.: Mayflower Settler finishes, begins Warrior.

8th Turn 1830 B.C.: :sleep::sleep::sleep: Nothin but scout moves

9th Turn 1790 B.C.: Mayflower Warrior---> Settler. Emperor Club Warrior---> Settler.

10th Turn 1750 B.C.: Chicken Ranch founded 3S of Mayflower, starts a Warrior. Persia + Iroquois have Ceremonial Burial, Iron Working, and the Wheel. Carthage only has Iron Working and the Wheel.

I see a Persian city to the NW that is already failing to conform to our grid! Got it btw I should play it tonight/the w/e.

from the looks of the picture it looks like the Iriquois & Carthage are in a war...

No Iro-Carthage war - they are just growing very slowly (compared to us). Though they are now putting cities in annoying non-Grid places, especially Carthage! They will learn, in time.

Summary of turnset:
Decided to trade Writing, as there were three techs available and the possibility of more (HBR+Myst) with a good chance the Iros would have HBR already (they didn't, and nobody had Mysticism :gripe: ).

We will have Iron in a couple of turns :bounce: I have connected it, but thinking about it we might want to play the connect/disconnect game (however 60g is a lot for upgrades given we're still researching at max).

Spoiler turn log :

0 1750 Swap Spitzer BG to grass, Mayflower Cow to BG. Do some deals with Writing: Persia gives Wheel+CB (Want Wheel+CB as Mysticism/HBR may be available too (they're not :sad: )); Iros give IW. Leave Carthage in the dark as they are the least powerful and therefore least likely to make demands. We have Iron, and it will be inside Mayflower's boundaries once it expands. Horses are further afield; the closest seem to be near the Iros :eek: (They also have Horsies next to Salamanca anyway.) Persia appear not to have any Iron :D They do have Horses. Carthage have no resources, but they don't need any to annoy us with their UUs :mad:

2 1700 Moonlight Curragh->Worker

3 1675 Mayflower Settler->Archer

5 1625 Chicken Warrior->Settler. Found Playboy Mansion, starts Warrior. N.B. Shares Cow with Mayflower - gets to use it every third turn.

6 1600 Mayflower Archer->Settler.

7 1575 Emperor Settler->Archer; Moonlight Worker->Curragh; Spitzer Barracks->Warrior.

10 1500 Mayflower Settler->(Warrior). Chicken switched to Warrior (Settler would finish before size 3) Left the Settler in place but move to 3NE (Gems) site next?

And here's a picture showing where 1 settler is definitely going (Yellow) and where I think the other should go (Red):

I think persia should go first... as they might have iron, then they will be harder to kill because they will have immortals. plus that will give us a secure North & then we can consentrate on the south

The closest source of Iron to Persia is way to their south-west - they won't be hooking it up for a long time. Iro/Carthage will be easier to take out - they have Horses and there's no jungle/swamp in the way.

Turn 0- Hit Enter

IBT- Persia Demands 2 gold - Fine... this time. Mayflowers Borders Expand & get Iron :) what a nice surprise.

Turn 1- Move Workers... Move the settlers... :sleep:

IBT- Crap... Mayflower Riots... I switch the person to a tax man

Turn 2- Found Tad's Jungle Mansion on the RED Dot.

IBT- We Get Code Of Laws & start Philosophy --> 10 turns

Turn 3- Found Plain Jem Mansion On Elders YELLOW dot. :sleep:

IBT- :sleep:

Turn 10-Move a settler in place to settle next turn. Move workers... we also have a vSword.

P.S. How can I get rid of the Short cut link when I post pictures/Saves?

lurker's comment: Interesting- who knew organized empires could be red x's? :p

Not bad if unspectacular progress. We ought to be picking out our first target, and aiming to get some units shifted that way. A small stack of Archers/Swords should cover it to start with IMO. For Emperor AIs, our opponents sure are weak.

A few things based on looking at the save:
- Mayflower should not have been allowed to riot. Are you using a utility such as CivAssist2 or MapStat? Also where has Mayflower's 2nd MP gone? As things stand Playboy doesn't need an MP so its Archer can go to Mayflower.
- The MM in Mayflower is screwed up. It should be using the cow 2 turns out of 3, with Playboy taking it on the third turn. It should be running +4/2/4 food or +2/4/4 so that there's +4 food when it grows and it works a forest/hill tile. Right now it needs 1 food to grow at +3fpt.
- No Spears... we need Archers. Especially with Swords we have defensive cover.
- Moonlight, growth to size 3 in 4 turns, finishing a Settler in 3? However the next topic will cover what to switch it to:
- Both Map Making and Maths are available for trade. CA2 or MapStat would've flagged this up. We can buy Maps (the more expensive) for CoL from Persia or the Iros. We should then easily get Maths for CoL from the other. So get Maps first, switch Moonlight to a Galley. Then get Maths and...
- Plain Jem is better off building a Catapult (once we get Maths) rather than a rax. With no Horses for a while a couple of Cats will be a good investment to go with slow-moving stacks of Swords/Archers.

I need to ask for a skip.

I will be on vacation the same time as eldar. We are in prep mode right now and there is no way I could do my turns well AND keep my wife happy. At least, not this week. :D

Have fun on your trip CB!

I can play the game this weekend. Got it.

Cool, thanks!

Been busier than I had anticipated so I haven't played yet. I'm 95% sure I can play tonight, though.

Perhaps you have got a free slot for me?
