I now have reliable forum access, and am able to take and return saves. Since Ghengis Khan was just up, I'll take it this time. Got it.
 
Some progress vs Egypt

1300 AD (0) It looks like we will be ready for a war soon, I shuffle some troops around for a first strike at Egypt's southern colonies.

(IBT) Egypt demands 92g and gets it because we are not quite ready. Egypt also cancels our Dyes deal.

(1) 2 cities riot due to lack of dyes. Luxury tax raised to compensate. Egypt now has riflemen :eek:

(2) Trade Japan Insence + 300g + 17gpt for Ivory and Theory of Gravity.
We are up to 17 cavalry and 6 due next turn. We will attack next turn.

(3) We sell Zululand a ROP for 25g (The Zulu are still at war with Egypt. We declare war on Egypt.

Capture Umtata + 1 cannon at no cost.
Capture Athribis at no cost (lots of resistors).
Capture Umfolozi at no cost.
Fail to take Mendes at a cost of 1 cavalry but kill 1 defending musket.
Kill swordsman in the open at no cost and pillage 2 Egyptian dyes and 1 saltpeter with explorers.

(IBT) We lose 3 explorers, 1 cavalry and 1 musket to Egypt.

(4) Capture Mendes at a cost of 1 cavalry.

(IBT) Egypt pillages a square and kills 1 of our musketmen.

(5) We gift Detroit to our friend Zululand as it would have fallen to Egypt next turn.

(IBT) Egypt kills 1 of our musketmen and pillages our iron but loses 1 cavalry.

(6) We kill 1 musket, 1 cavalry, 1 swordsmen, and 1 longbow at no cost. Gather forces for an attack on hilltop city Philidelphia.

(IBT) Attacking our cities, Egypt destroys 2 musketmen + 1 cavalry losing 1 of their cavalry in the process.

(7) We destroy 3 cavalry, 6 swordsmen, and 3 musketmen with cannon support at a cost of 1 cavalry. We (re)capture Philidelphia at a cost of 1 cavalry.

(IBT) Egypt kills 2 cavalry.

(8) We destroy 6 musketmen, 2 cavalry, 6 swordsmen, and 1 longbows at a cost of 2 cavalry.

(9) We destroy 1 pikeman, 2 musketmen, 3 swordsmen, and 1 longbow at no cost. Egypt's offensive army has been virtually eliminated.

1350 AD (10) Attack Kahun and capture it at a cost of 1 cavalry (4 retreats!). Destroy 2 riflemen in the open at no cost. We learn Magnatism and enter the Industrial Age (we are now free to change governments). Research is set on Steam Power, due in 21 turns.

Egypt is currently willing to give up 37gpt for peace, and they are only ahead of us by Nationalism. We have 26 cavalry, and will have 10 healthy cavalry inside Kahun and Atlanta ready to strike Pi-Ramesses next turn. There is a settler headed north to replace a razed city if the opportunity arises. Don't be afraid to make peace with Egypt to get concessions, because we will always be able to hit them again in 20 turns.

PT- Check everything, change nothing. Cleo will give us a worthless tech(economics):lol:, or 38gpt for peace, or 58gpt for peace & an alliance vs the Zulu. I do neither but its good to know. Also renegotiate wines/incense trade with Zulu saving us 43gpt :D Also sell one of our 2 extra incense to Hwathai for 8gpt & 18 gold.

IT- Egypt pillages some improvements, Stack of frigates down the coast.

T1(1355)- Noone will sell us Nationalism, not even for 55gpt.:eek: Change Washington & SF to frigate to prevent our shores from becoming a wasteland. Rush frigate in SF for 112 g. Move troops up for assault on Pi-Ramessese. Kill a spear & sword flawlessly. Now Cleo is willing to part with 38gpt, a worker, & 18g. Or 42gpt & 3g.

IT- Dozens of frigates appear. Our cavalry dies, killing a rifleman & red linnin another.

T2(1360)- Cavalry dies redlinnin rifle.

T3(1365)-It’s about time to end this……..after I destroy Pi-Ram & get its dyes before it ends. Kill 4 rifles heading to reinforce Pi-R, next turn it will fall.

T4(1370)- Pi Ramessese falls to our glorious army. A couple Cavalry were retreated but none killed. I keep it just in case it has any wonders(I really shoulda checked last turn) but a settler is on his way to resettle after I abandon it(if it doesn’t). We also capture a cannon. No wonders, but it already has an aqueduct, marketplace, barracks, & bank. Looks like we’ll be keeping this one.:lol:

Seeing as I have 15 or fully healed Calvary outside Pi-R, I start marching on Abydos. Cleo offers 46gpt & 13g for peace. But still no Nationalism.

IT- 2 Cavalries killed & one forced to retreat.

T5(1375)- Kill a couple cavlarys moving around, 2 cavs promoted to elite.

IT- Two Cavs get killed. We quickly start a monument in Washington to honor our fallen(Uni).

T7(1385)- Abydos falls! I ended up taking it with a 2 hp cav:lol: Abydos follows the lead set by Pi-Ram & comes with aqueduct, barracks, & marketplace. I form an army with veteran cavs.

T8(1390)- Kill cav with our Cav army. Now its time to make peace. Sell peace for 15gpt & 655g. She still wouldn’t part with Nationalism.

T9(1395)- Nothing much, change Boston from Musket to Hero Epic to honor our fallen in war. Hurry Temple in Abydoss to prevent flips. Revolt! Sell Hwathia a ROP for 1gpt & 65g. Decide since we have to wait 20 turns before attacking Cleo again we might as well get something else from her, turn our enemy into our “friend” by trading incense to her for 11gpt & 115 gold. Sell Monty dyes for 4gpt & 34 gold(he’s broke).

T10(1400)- Finally!! We’re in Democracy, the people love having the power to vote so much they immediately go to work expanding our palace. Tons of resisters quelled & starved off the same time. Hurry temple in Pi-Ram for 100g.

*I couldn’t decide where to put the Military Academy, I’m also hesitant to start it when we’re 1 tech from factories. I think we should research industrialization as quick as possible(with a pre-build in the city we’re gonna put it in), build a factory, then drop the Academy in. Also we have a TON of resisters in the south-western cities Zwingli picked up from the Egyptians, with the war I didn’t have any spare troops to garrison down there. Send some troops down there to take care of them. A lot of cities are building MUs, all can be vetoed for more importand things.*

With Egypt losing 2 more core cities, I think we have the upper hand on Egypt at last :). Since we are in Democracy, we can take the opportunity to build up Factories and Hospitals, hopefully grabbing the tech lead in the process.

(1) Railroad work and prebuilding for Factories.

(2) Industrialization is known by India and Japan.
Buy Industrialization from India for WM + 4gpt (We were almost done).

(8) We renew peace with Egypt on even terms (they asked).

(9) We learn the Corporation.

With the huge cash windfall, I upgrade all musketmen to riflemen and set maximum research on Electricity (on the way to Scientific Method and Replacable Parts). We pillage and reattach the coal of course.

1500 AD (10) Aztecs can't afford to pay for dyes anymore. Iroquois can't afford to pay for a ROP anymore. We stop shipping Egypt insence.

Egypt can currently pay 14gpt for insence, but I would withhold it from them since they have switched to democracy and would be greatly helped by the extra happy people. Egypt has apparently rebuilt their military since they are now considered strong compared with us. We might want to hit them again before long, so be careful on starting any new deals with them.

Btw Zwingli, during the entire war our advisor said they were strong compared to us, even after I sacked 2 cities & was about to make peace.:lol:
