Embattled Holy Land Unit Pack

Doesn't it though? I really like the look of it... :)

I only gave mine a defensive bombardment, so that when it gets attacked, it'll possibly do some damage before having to go into melee fighting.

DPII... yeah slingers! I came up with two unit concepts, a slinger for the Greeks and one for the Romans. The idea is to replace the generic warrior for both civs with a favor unit which refers to what was probably one of the earliest weapons used by Grek and Roman shepherds: the slingshot!
Check my unit request:

Greek and Roman Slingers

Excellent work, I have long awaited this unit and now I'll put it to hard work. Judah has a long uphill battle against the Assyrians in my mod...
Thanks again DPII and I especially like the deathB anim- I think it captures that these were zealots fighting for more than just territory or wealth.

Oh and I also eagerly await the zulu hordes- my zebra (painted) horsemen need some infantry support.

Never saw this thread before.

Maccabee

Three words: "You are amazing!" I've needed this unit for so long. Guy what's replacing the Merkavah in version 3.0 of the Basic Israel mod?

Maybe I'll make a battle for the holy land mod/scenario at some point.

What mod is that?

It's a full world map of 754 BC with four full eras and a full replacement of units and buildings with period and civ specific units (or as close as I could get) I've been working on it for about 6 months and I'm just wrapping up the last construction. Unfortunately, DPII et al keep putting out excellent units which I have to put in, so I doubt I'll ever be done.

Not completely sure what I'm going to do next for the Middle Eastern civs, but my guess would be that I'm going to focus on Cavalry, though I do have a Janissary in the back of my mind... actually two. One as a Med. Infantry replacement and the other as a Musketman...

Unfortunately, the model that was given to me to make the Janissary was all but unusuable... the polygon count was just too low to make it workable... so I'm going to basically have to build the costume and props from scratch... that will take time.

Good looking units, thanks DP.
Just one thing about the shield, though. Do you think you could do a version without the star of David? I don't like Jews...

I jest, I jest... but really though, most people don't have an Israel civ in their game, and he really wouldn't fit as a flavor unit anywhere else.

I'll be using him as a flavour unit requiring the 'hebrew' minor civ resource in my worldmap mod...

@Bungus
That's not funny. You got a problem with us, too bad. We have stood the test of time and have come out stronger and more resolute.

Well, it is his right not to like people he feels prejudist about. It is really none of anybody's business, yet as such, I couldn't care less if someone mentiones he/she likes or dislikes other peoples. Similarly I see no need in mentioning it off topic. So lets take things easy and enjoy holy land units some more...

I know I shouldn't, but I tend to take comments like that personally.

relax guys, just shaking things up a bit, I don't really hate jewish people. The Israelis are the only sane people in the middle east, unlike the rest of those crazy towel-heads... ;)

Dom, refresh my memory, you still planning on making a Balearic Slinger?

I figure I'll address the non-volitile part of Bungus' post.
